Even outside instances? Have to say I never tried it, I use it all the time
in raids to find out where the slowcoahc who isn't there for buffs has got
to, but never tried outside - I really should do Wink

How strange. Why would you care if someone ignored you? Or why would
I want to talk to someone who ignores me?

Some posts about a year ago some were claiming that some US players
were required to change their alt name if it had 'special characters'
in their name. Based on the proliferation of such names currently, I
suspect that policy is not endorsed very heavily.

Bothers me not a whit if they have special characters in their name.
But if they start spamming me... well, then I play a little game to
see how long it actually takes me to report them.

The vast majority of the people doign it are on PC-101 derived keyboards.
And they are Americans.

I've actually asked quite a few people about it. It's how they do it.

Most of them in the situation he described are Americans, doing it on
American keyboards. They use the alt-key codes because the name they
want is taken, not because the language the normally speak (and hence
the keyboard they normally use) uses that character frequently.

I play on Nathrezim, a U.S. Server and the practice is as common as
dirt. One guy's name was nothing BUT accented characters, he did it
because he said it made him harder to ignore, in his opinion.

no idea... just pointing out that non us/uk keyboards produce
characters with accents without having to resort to alt codes.

I think it only breaks across zone boundaries, such as between continents
and between "the world" and instances.

I once MV'd around Darnassus, hopping from squirrel to deer to innkeeper to
trainer to vendor....

(Can one MV opposite faction in a neutral town safely? Or do the goblins
jump you for that? I mean, sap has been considered non-threatening to them,
and MV is less annoying than sap.)

Alas no, I ment the instance map Smile

I think, because I never tried it either, but since it doesn't work
across continents it probably doesn't work. Sorry :9

I got mindvisioned in AB earlier, some priest who was far enough away that
I couldn't even see him, no idea why he bothered looking at me tbh Smile I'll
have to experiment some more with my priest and see what the range is like!

Quite far. My Nelf priest went over to the Horde flight point in Booty
Bay and mind visioned a hordy as he took off. I think I had him almost
to Grom Gol Base Camp but it was a long time ago so my memory is fuzzy.

Also mind visioned the Buccaneers outside BB, left of the big shark
mouth. Each time targeting a new Buccaneer and jumping farther away down
the beach until I got to the Naga and mind visioned the them too. I
can't remember how far I got but I think it was up those Naga and that
was it.

I got my first glimpse inside the walls of Silvermoon City this way,
jumping from guard to player, to guard again until I lost the connection
or got to far away. Then starting over again.

Mind Vision is great! When you're so far away like that, the target has
no idea who is doing it or even if you're in their faction or not. I
would be lost without it.

Oh yeah, you can check for bosses way up ahead in unfamiliar instances
too. LOL

Correction. I just tried it again and it doesn't go as far as I thought.
Reaches up to the Naga though.

It can go further than you can get it to go I find. If you can target
a party member you should be able to go the full 50,000 yards.
However, jumping from mob to mob with it you're limited by how far
away the mobs will actually show up for you. For example, from the
front gate of Strath (inside), it would generally only go as far as
the first intersection, and you just couldn't see any mobs further
than that as they hadn't been "created" yet or something. You'd see a
patrol materialise from thin air, walk along for a bit then disappear
again while still only being 10 or 20 yards from the mob you were Mind
visioning.
