Next: Still can not play L60 copied characters on BC Be..

Post subject: Character Name Change?

So I had just created my first WOW character, had a cool name and all.
Leveled that mighty warrior all the way up to 5 
First time I attempted to login while my realm was offline for
maintenance I jumped to a different realm and created a temporary alt
to play. With a retarted name. Played all day and leveled up to 9, I
think, played all day the next day, got into it and the next thing I
know I'm up to level 32 with this alt, and my original character is
still a 5.
I like my level 32 warrior and want to keep it. But the name is
embarrasing.
Any way to change the name? or do I need to cut my losses and start
over? |

What is the name?
You could petition it. A nice GM will probably let you change it.
Extra points if you can convince them that it means something horrible
in another language. |

The name isn't offensive, it's just stupid.
Okay, here it is: FixMyRealm (grrrr). I can just envision the great
and powerful level 60 warrior running around with that tag over his
head.
Oh well, guess I'll just start over, as much as I hate to. I was just
getting to the good stuff. Levelin should go faster anyway.

The only way to change the name (unless it's in violation of
Blizzard's T&Cs) would be to use the paid character transfer.
Create a character with the same name on the destination realm
then do a transfer, when you log in with the transferred character
you can change its name.
Not cheap, but that's the only way to do it. Unless there's a free
transfer off your server, of course.

Well, Blizz makes people with offensive names change them.. if they're
reported. Could yours be deemed offensive in any way? Or ripped completely
from something? (eg. Legolas  )
Basically, could you ask anyone to file a ticket complaining about it, lol?

Yes.. but risky.
1. Delete it
2. get a friend to create a level 10 (at least) with the same name ...
QUICKLY
3. Petition to have it restored.
4. Change name.
The closer your toon is to 60, the more likely this will work, and the
more risky it is if it doesn't.
Remember - you only get 3 RESTORES ever ... so I'd save em for real
emergencies

Have someone report it or do it yourself. Fixmyrealm isnt against the
TOS but it doesnt jive with the feel of the game. If you're on a RP
realm I'm surprised you havent already been reported.

I second that - definetely try that before you start over or attempt
any risky tricks, there is a good chance that the GMs would agree that
the name isn't appropriate.

If you're on an RP server (RP or RP-PVP), all you need is to get some
other player to complain, and a GM will contact you and demand that you
change the character's name. FixMyRealm clearly violate the rules for
PVP server character names.
