Ahhhhhh!
All the groups look tough. Even the so-called makeweights are no push-overs
anymore.
On paper at least, Arsenal seem to have it easier but knowing how difficult
it is to travel to Eastern Euro clubs and their misfiring when it counts,
there is no guarantee they could progress at a canter. >> Stay informed about: Champions League Draw 07/08 |

well yeah, that's what i was going to say.
there doesn't really seem to be a group this year which you could call
unpredictable, from that draw, i'd expect the top seeds in each group
to be the top two that qualify.

Pah, Stuttgart nicked the league on the last game of the season, they dont
exactly have a strong european pedigree, we should beat them home AND away!
Lyon aren't the team that they were, and we should hopefully handle them
well enough at home, and just hope for something away.
Barcelona will pump us though! >> Stay informed about: Champions League Draw 07/08 |

We did well to come second considering we had a manager hell-bent on
destroying us for the first half of the season!

How many times have Stuttgart played in european competition?
How many times has Walter Smith managed a Rangers team in europe. The
current crop of players have experience from last year, and the new boys
(except the Scots) all come from clubs who were playing in europe last year.

As I said, they aren't the team they were when they did well in the ECL. I
dont fear them now.

I'd maybe give them a chance at home to Stuttgart, but there's as good a
chance that the Germans will sneak it.

Pure delusion. Lyon had the French league wrapped up weeks before the end
of the season. They are more than capable of beating Rangers in both
matches, and I fully expect them to.
> Barcelona will pump us though!
I expect Rangers to pick up no more than two draws in this group.

A retarded chimp could manage Rangers to second place (Cue Terry Butcher jokes).

Five out of the last six seasons for starters.

I'm not sure that's going to help much if the other team is better than Rangers.

Unfortunately, they aren't playing against you.

Tempting, but I can get much better value by simply opposing Rangers in
every group match.

I'm surprised at that. I'm sure that if you tell Joe Punter in the pub
'Stuttgart have played in europe five out of the last six seasons' he would
be surprised too. Why? Because they are not a club with a high european
footballing pedigree.

None. He did take them to within an inch of the 93 Champions league final.
Ooh, Stuttgart were in that too weren't they!?

'better' how? More skill? Better managerial prowess? Tactically more astute?
Experience counts for a lot in this game.

I doubt that you would get even money on Rangers getting two points or less.
My offer still stands. I'll even allow you 4 ponts instead of the 2 you
originally claimed. >> Stay informed about: Champions League Draw 07/08 |

Granted it has mostly been in the UEFA Cup, but it's certainly not a secret.

Sorry, but I'm not taking much heart from that achievement.

All of the above. You make it sound as if Lyon and Stuttgart will be
wheeling out a team of kids.

Much better, although my comment still stands. I doubt Walter Smith gave
his players as biased an appraisal of the opposition as you did.

I don't see anyone offering such a bet, but opposing Rangers in every match
will yield better than evens.

Then I accept. )
