Is there anyway, a cheat, patch or any advice anyone can give me so
that I can be an international manager at the end of the first season?

As far as I can see you have to be offered the job? Is this correct?
Is there any way of overcoming this problem?

Cheers, James

if it works like fm2006, you should be able to pick the role as national
manager from the very start. My knowledge of cm06 is zero as I've never
played it.

I played CM2005 for half a season. It wasn't a bad game, FM is just so much
better. If FM hadn't existed, I would probably have played it.

Exactly. Frankly I think it's good. FM is to extensive for some people, with
all the stats, options etc. For those people, CM is probably a good
solution - they can always take the step up later Wink

Same as Scholer. No CM experience post CM0304.
But Niblock, if you have not already thought of it, try the old CM/FM route
of taking over the national hotseat. That is, if Beautiful Game
Studios/Eibloodydos do the same kind of cross-reference coding work that SI
do. But I sincerely doubt it.

Anyway-
At selection screen for club to take over, go to the analogue of 'see all
clubs. Click on a club and go to the club squad screen to check if the team
has any players from the nation you desire to control. (If it's Albania you
want, select an Albanian team etc.) Clicking in the player's nationality
will take you to the national squad screen. There will be a button at the
bottom right 'Take over team' or equivalent. Click and you are instantly the
national team bigwig.

But then, this is the BSG/Eidud version. If they have ironed out all the
bugs in CM05, perhaps the above will apply. Do keep us informed if the old
trick works.

Hi All,

Cheers for the response. It would appear it is not possible to take
over control of an int team UNLESS you are offered it! You can not
apply for the job until it becomes available! I thought a way of
overcoming this might be to go for one of the lesser national teams
e.g. Northern Ireland and progress from there BUT in my 6th season in
not one int job has become available!

CM05-06 is not a bad effort at a management game. It has a few bugs
but in general on a good machine it will run quite well! The game
itself is very easy if you take on big club Man Utd, Chelsea etc
however, it is very difficult if you choose a low prem team, worse
still if you start in the conference! Players are unrealistically
expensive! Rooney can cost anywhere from 60-90 million! Not that
unrealistic some may say but Ballack costs 30 million, Beckham 40 and
any young player is inevitably over priced! Good game - lots of bugs
to correct!

In the olden days I remember there used to be cheats to take over as
Int manager, such as picking the team from the start (not really a
cheat) or naming yourself as the England mangaer.. hence automatically
taking control - none of these tricks work - maybe I am spelling Sven
Goran Eriksson incorrectly Smile

Cheers for all the reponse, if anyone has any ideas please get back to
me! By the way in FM can you take control of England? What is the
difference between Football Manager 2006 and FIFA Manager 2006?

Yes you can take over any national team. You simply select it from the
very beginning.

I havent tried Fifa Manager but my experience with Fifa games is that
they often are very uhm graphical and 'smart' if you know what I mean.
Ea tend to concentrate more on graphics and smart gadgets and cool looks
rather than focus on the gameplay and database. That is why I love FM.
Its not the best looking thing (allthough I've found a skin I simply
love), but the gameplay and the huge database makes all the play worth
while.
