Everyone know the secret to catching the Banded Dragonfly. I have tried
cutting down trees so they will not get in the way of running after it but
still no luck.

Luck. I had to chase 4 or 5 of them and just got lucky enough to head one
off.

Every Banded Dragonfly that I have caught was by luck or accident. On
the GC, just get after it as soon as you see it. On the DS, keep it
from going south to the beach. If you can herd it to an area with
buildings, you'll have a better chance at catching it. I've chased
three towards the museum and caught them when they U-turned back at me.
If you see one in the distance, don't run unless you're far away.
They seem to get spooked more easily when you run near them. Only
other tip is keep your net ready. On the GC the game pauses when you
go to your item screen, but on the DS you have to hurry or you'll miss
it. That's all the advice I have. Good luck!
