I seem to be getting a lot of missions where the "complete" message comes up
and half the group leaves. Just then the first of three or four waves of
baddies --sometimes pretty damn big groups comes running in. Tonight I had
the mish with Barracuda in it, same deal. Everyone but my sk left --pickup
group-- and were whining about what was taking sooo long the entire time I
was fighting to stay alive. I finally died in there (just to stretch it out
a bit I admit it) but my bots all gave a good accounting for themselves. And
since they all bunched up as they came into the tar patch I dropped, I let
those freaks stagger around a good bit by lobbing howling twilight (best
group disorient mistakenly called a rez I know) in their midst.
I resummoned another set of protectors and a new Ahnold (assault) around the
corner and started in again. That's when the original group of staggerers
all came too at once and targeted me. Bots were single targeting til death
(my macro: target closest enemy + petcom attack def). They weren't happy and
it finally overwhelmed my own heals.
That was proof to me to bind a "Don't exit ! Might be post mish waves"
message into a key so I could let the bozos know the next time without
trying to chat it out in time.
The common denominator I noticed this in are the missions that contain a
friendly that you rescue from a fight who either helps you out or applauds
you for helping. Then add in missions where such a person seen in earlier
mission is a purple conning elite that you fight. Tell you what, if COH had
missions like this more often I'd be back working that side of the street
more... <hint hint>

Those waves are a big part of why it's soooo much faster to level in
CoV than in CoH. That along with the fact that most missions occur in
the same zone, so the time between missions goes from like 5+ minutes
to like 1. >> Stay informed about: COV Missions, waves at end |

Wow and I like it so much more than CoH. But then again, I never solo
so your perception and mine are likely to be highly independant. I
wouldn't have liked CoH or CoV at all if I soloed.
Just as an example, I went from 37 to 40 in my mastermind in a matter
of 7 days. It was normal to have a session between 35% and 50% of a
level. After I maxed my mastermind, I went back to CoH to play my old
lvl 37 controller. After 2 long sessions I got about 40% of a level,
so about half speed. I did notice we spent a long time waiting for the
whole group to get into the next mission that's why I mentioned it. Of
course, if you mostly solo then that doesn't affect you, but when
you're in a team with 7 other people, it does matter.
It was still fun though. >> Stay informed about: COV Missions, waves at end |

Don't know about it being faster to level in CoV, but there is a large
incidence of missions in the same door you've just exited or one within 100
yards. My brute, who is a mainly solo character, is levelling at the same
percieved rate as my CoH characters. There are times when it is a struggle
to play solo in CoV simply because of the lack of infamy available in the
game. By level 20+, a CoH character seems to be far richer than their CoV
equivalent. None of my CoH characters end up with red enhancements while it
is usual for the villains to be running round with some. I have been told
that levels 30+ see this problem go away, but I haven't got there to
experience it yet. I am also going to run out of contacts at level 28 too...

I am less than impressed with CoV compared to CoH. OK, they have had a year
or more to fill out CoH, but CoV is less than adequately developed for
something that has already won awards.

This is true *unless* you are a Mastermind. Then it takes *so* long
to get started at each mission (summon, buff, summon, buff, wait,
rest, buff, wait, buff, etc.) that it makes more sense to get every
last bit out of each henchman before you have to let them go.
Or at least, that's what it seems like to me.
I love playing a Mastermind (mine is a 38th lvl Necro/Dark MM on
Victory) but I hate the premission summon/buff/rinse/repeat thing.
I've wasted a bunch of slots in my buff powers just so I can reduce
the amount of time to the absolute minimum.

I did this during the beta. But nobody got it.
My mastermind is called Real Mean (albeit in German, but you get the idea)
so I can name my pets I am, I am also etc.

Dr. Akagi is loosely borrowed from the animae Evangelion.
Her robots are current's Unit 00, Unit 02 and Unit 01 as the protectorbot.
When she gains the ability to do an assaultbot, it will become Unit 01.
She's been to Bloody Bay and had a third small bot. It's name is/will be
"Jetalone". If she ever hits the big time, Units 00 and 02 will be the
protector bots and I'll have to use units 03 and 04 along with Jetalone to
fill out the bottom rung.
