I enjoyed it. It's not stellar like C2 but
definately worth playing, Especially since
you can get it for a much lower price now.
If you really love to play with the Diver,
he's only in one mission

I don't have a single individual character to play, I like them all.
They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I have the demo of this
game, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. Still trying to figure
out how to play Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Alien Crossfire on the new
computer. I keep getting a 'cpu not supported message'. It's
frustrating.

I've never heard of 'cpu not supported'. What type of cpu is it?
Can't you find anything about the error on the net?

A capital "G' can look very much like a "C", depending on the font. My guess
is that the error says 'gpu not supported'. OP has a brand new computer but
he did not mention which video card is in it.

It's an AMD Athlon dual-core processor. The on-board graphics card is
an Nvidia GeForce 6150. I have looked online for the solution, but no
one has one. Not even the makers of the game, who say they are working
on it.
And to the other poster: the error message was indeed 'CPU' not
supported.

Don't have first hand experience with AC, sorry.
I suppose you already found this:
http://www.civ.org.pl/articles.php?
action=ViewArticle&lang=Eng&type=SMAC&ArticleID=183
So there are more people who have this issue. It's also
been described in the forum of the site:
forums.civ.org.pl/misc.php?action=gotomsg&MsgID=125351
and other threads. If none of this stuff works, maybe
you could join the forum.

I'm thinking I'll be getting this game. Played MOHAA and now I've got
COD, but there's nothing quite like Commandos out there that I know
of. I enjoyed all the Commandos games and now I'm looking forward to
playing C3.
Is there a C4 in the works?

C3 has better visuals from C2, some nice head-strong missions and a not so
great constant storyline.
I loved C3 more than C2, but still... if you are a die hard fan, C3 is an
enjoyment all the way... almost (apart from that insignificant timed
mission...).

On the other hand, if you enjoy the GB, he is in most of them.

If I recall, there are two missions in the demo, one of the tutorials and
the 54th mission of the Europe campaign.
You'll get a general idea with the demo for sure.

Similar to Commandos is Soldiers: Heroes of WW2. Much more
action orieted though. I very much liked it. Also the user mods. Play
C3. It's 800*600 fixed resolution I quickly got used to but the
lack of keyboard shortcuts is unforgivable.

The only commandos 4 out there is Commandos Strike Force, which abandons the
2D/3D isometric view and turns into 1st person/3rd person strategy/action
game.

Similar to Commandos but more units oriented (you control more than one
soldier at a time) is also WW2 Company of Heroes (I would love to see
something like that into the Commandos 'verse) and Cold War World in
Conflict, which copies in a variety of ways COH.

The only games I haven't tried with a strategy element in them but similar
to MOH or COD are Hidden and Dangerous and Sniper Elite. Perhaps these will
do till Commandos 5 is released

H&D Deluxe became freeware when H&D2 was released. The Deluxe
is a debugged version of the original. Sniper Elite is GREAT!
