Since I installed OFB I haven't been able to buy food by sending a sim to
the grocery shop. I click Buy, the box comes up for how much, always
showing the refidgerator as completely empty, even when it isn't, and
however much I tell them to get, it always costs one simolean. Then when
they get home they have no shopping basket, and there's no more food in the
fridge.
I have one family in a large house who managed to dance around the delivery
man and never get the food that way either!
Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you looked in their Inventory?
They may have the baskets of food in there.

I hadn't, but I have now. And no, no baskets of food.
It was a good thought, but I still don't understand how they would have got
away with paying1 simolean for 600 worth of food. Good trick if it
worked.

I've never had my sims go to the grocery store to get groceries. They
either order a delivery or I just sell the fridge and buy another one
that's already stocked. LOL There are hacks out there, too, that will
alert you to low food levels or even restock your fridge every night at
midnight. Not everyone likes hacks, though.
I've found that if you don't get to the delivery guy to accept the
delivery, he just leaves it sitting somewhere on the lot. I don't know
if you get charged for it when that happens (probably so) but at least
you don't have to do the grocery tango all over the front porch!

I have the hack that warns you.
I don't mind sending them out shopping - this was a popularity Sim wanting
20 best friends who needed to meet people. Sometimes it's a good excuse,
or they just pick up food while out anyway. I have bought new fridges too.
Better ones now they have more money, or just a restyle.

I couldn;t find it, I am sure he was still carrying it when he went back to
the truck. I'll have a closer look, and try again anyway. But I wish I
knew what the problem was in the commumity lots.

Hmmmmm. Now that I check, I seem to have a similar problem, except when I
buy $600 worth of groceries (the max), I get charged that much. And I no
longer seem to have "Check Supplies" as a option on my fridge.
I had installed a couple of food hacks by Squinge (Chicken and Filet Mignon
at home), but took them out. Maybe that's why I get the problem? >> Stay informed about: Buying food |

Shift+Ctrl+c
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
Shift+click the refrigerator and select Restock
Does not cost the family anything.

I wonder about that. I've never downloaded new foods or careers because
I've heard such horror stories about potential problems with them.
Maybe you could go back to the forum where you got the hacks and see if
anyone else is reporting a similar problem.

Not if you took them out, surely?

I have some extra cakes - strangely Clean Installer seems to think they are
careers - but they have never been any problem.
You were right by the way, I did find the basket of groceries on the lot,
eventually, very well hidden at the back of the garage!

Good deal! One way you can keep the delivery guy at the front of the
lot is to install a fence without a gate around the yard. Leave the
walkway open leading to the door, but make the only way into or out of
the yard be through the house and they'll leave it by the front step.

If CleanInstaller is seeing the foods as careers, there might be a
problem with simply trying to take them out of the game. I don't know
how they could be cloned from a career, but I do know that careers leave
stuff behind even if you try to take them out. When I first got the
game, I downloaded a house and installed it with the installer that
comes with the game. Apparently, it had an Adult Industry career
attached to it that I knew nothing about. I'm not a prude, but I really
didn't want the career so I tried to just take it out of the downloads
folder. It left clothing and something else behind that fouled up my
game. I finally ended up doing a clean install of the whole game and
starting over again. That's why I'll never download another career.

Nah - it's not a problem. It's just that Clean Installer tends to label
things it doesn't recognise as a career.
Best wishes

Well, I put the two foods back in (newer versions, actually), and the Check
Supplies option reappeared. But now I couldn't actually make anything. They
would go to the fridge, prepare the meal, then complain about not being able
to use the stove for some reason.
I took them both out and this time the check supplies stayed. But they still
couldn't cool, until I deleted the old stove and added a new one. (I had
tried that before with the hacks in and didn't work).
So I guess the moral for me, is to not to mess with any downloaded foods
again. >> Stay informed about: Buying food |

Do you have a door on the side or back of the garage? I once built one of my
families a pool room. I ordered groceries and got annoyed that they didn't
get delivered. Then one of the resident sims went to play pool and I spotted
the basket at the pool room door!
