Well, my real-life is getting a bit better. I fixed my missed
appointment (not my fault, so no charge), I put off a large bill until
next year, and my job interview went very well, meaning I might soon be
very rich. But that's just the real world. More importantly...
MINOR SPOILERS FOLLOW IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED AC ON GC...
Nook 'n' Go finally opened today, so I quickly dumped the 60K of fish
and shells I'd collected over the last day on him. On my first load,
Nook welcomed me to his new business. On my second load, he "invited"
me to join the HRA (so *they're* still around, groan). On my third
load, he informed me of my new mortgage--120K bells. Meet the new boss,
same as the old boss.
Luckily, our 7/11-manque had a shovel and an axe, so I'm just missing a
net now. The shovel was a disappointment...The only dig/X spot I could
find had a pitfall. At least they are useful now. I was hoping for a
fossil, just to see how Blathers now handles them. And as I previously
noted, the Fossil Hall is now very, very big. I'm wondering how fast
the dig spots regenerate, and how many there can be at one time...
LARGER SPOILERS FOLLOW IF YOU DON'T HAVE ACWW...
in addition, there was a clothes closet for sale...A new item that I
don't recall being in AC/GC; it looked very generic. But it was a
1-space item, and I needed it to store a couple shirts that otherwise
would have taken too much space in my barely-upgraded hut. TURNS
OUT...Closets and drawers and whatnot now can store *90* items. AND you
can pick them up with all 90 items still inside! This is >wonderful<. I
used to have to store extra items in the three other mansions or in
letters at the post office. Now we have basically _endless_ storage
space.
And also consider--since you can pick up a full closet/drawer and take
it somewhere else via WiFi, we can transfer entire truckloads of stuff
to other villages that way. I am very pleased. One of these days I'll
be able to donate my wardrobe of unused clothes to the deserving
poor...Oh, and it looks like you can store just about anything in a
closet/drawer...With the probable exception of another closet/drawer
(or anything alive...shells can be stored, though).
Bad news...Wendell now gives out >patterns<. Uh. I wonder, what will
Saharah sell? What will Gracie deign to grant us? After all, in WW, you
only have room to save a PITIFUL *8* patterns. Sad. I liked the huge
pattern bank you could maintain on the GC (even if it did get wiped for
many people on a regular basis...never happened to me, oddly). If I
recall, they've increased the number of walls and carpets, so I have no
clue what is happening there.
Also, Katrina was in my village yesterday, and now Wendell is there
today? Apparently the rate of visitors has been notched up by a
considerable degree.
Fishing is still my overwhelming massive source of income. I have now
added 22 fish to my museum...I snagged a bluegill yesterday...plus, a
pale chub and a goldfish today. The only year-long fish I'm missing is
a popeyed goldfish. So at least they've adjusted fishing to give
everyone something to catch all year long.
Villagers now thought-bubble indicate if/when they want to talk to you,
and it's nearly always a good thing. I picked up a few free items that
way. It's not the random "talk-to-them-and-hope-they-don't-gyp-you"
deal from GC--there's even a sound cue for when they want to talk.
Although there was at least one attempt at a sneak sale on me today.
Drake: "Hey, I brought that thing you wanted." A) I don't want it. B)
What thing? C) Gimme gimme!...I chose the safe answer, B. "Oh yeah,
that cabana wall...Only 2000 bells." No thanks.
I'm still on my guard for the forced sales and "Haha, I'm taking half
your money!" and all the other old tricks from GC. Animal Double
Crossing, as I like to refer to that aspect of the game.
Anyway, the fishing was good, so I paid off my new mortgage reasonably
quickly. Good thing, because Nook informed me 2/3rds of the way through
that he was closing (_again_?)tomorrow for remodeling. I knew it would
happen, I'm glad it's happening, but he was only open for six hours
before I got the notice! This is the fastest I've developed my mansion
ever, not that I'm complaining.
I finally got a couple useful "headgear" items from the Ables today...A
decent Paperboy Cap and a Curly Mustache. The mustache is too funny for
words. Perfect disguise for WiFi mischief. And now that I have
essentially endless storage space and a sufficient bankroll, I'm
starting to buy all the various clothes. I have picked out my uniform,
at least for a while...I like green, and the Leaf Shirt is simply
marvelous. Naturally, as soon as I bought it, another villager gave one
to me. Thanks guy.
Segueing, I had another villager move in, a bad-tempered Zebra, making
animal number five. Things seem to happen much faster in WW than they
ever did in GC. Not a bad thing--not at all--in my humble opinion. He
was in the unpacking mode, same as Snake yesterday. Snake, by the way,
was wandering about the village today, carrying a fishing pole, which
was a new one on me. Bella carries a watering can, but I thought that
was just an oddity. Apparently, they've revamped animal behavior a
bit...
Well, tomorrow will be another "strictly fishing" day, since Nook will
be closed...But at least I'll have a larger house. Natch, the original
hut is 4X4. My current upgrade is 6X6, so I'm assuming the last ground
floor upgrade will be 8X8, same as in GC. I'm pretty sure we'll get a
basement, but I'm wondering what they'll do about the second floor,
seeing how that is the mandatory player "bedroom" (save area).
Still haven't caught a balloon prize. Wish I could find a fossil. Or
even a gyroid. And I wish some of you would buy this stupid game so I
could visit your village and pillage it. Just kidding. But hey, I have
a pitfall now! And they finally have a real purpose! Mwahahaha...
Seriously, if some of you people don't get moving and generate some
friend codes, I'm going to have to try my luck with the hoodlums on
Gamefaqs...It's only $30, sheesh. And in most ways, it's superior to AC
for GC.
For example...No Gyroid Save required! Suddenly busy? Just flip the DS
closed and your game goes into auto-suspend mode...
Anyway, I gotta go. Don't email me. My address doesn't work. >> Stay informed about: Buy Animal Crossing WW (DS)--My Day 3 |
