People on the road already have transportation.
I think maybe bus stops should go in high population areas.

Bus stops have to be placed to help the sims complete trips.
You need bus stops in each of the three types of zones.
They also have to be near the zoned tiles.

Actually they need to go everywhere but really rich people don't use them on
the other hand in the last city I was messing with I had bus stops and
subways everywhere and that and walking seemed to be the main form of
transportation. >> Stay informed about: Bus stops |

That's pretty obvious. I'm trying to use busses to reduce traffic
congestion, is that not possible? >> Stay informed about: Bus stops |

It will reduce it some. If you have, for instance a deep
residential zone with a long ride to work in the industrial
zone. The road will congest quite quickly and areas deep in
the resisdential zone will not develop or develope poorly.
A couple of bus stops in the residential zone and then another
in the industrial zone will help some of the sims complete their
trips.
As with everything about this game, just experiment and see
what works.

Absolutely but it depends to some degree on local income and you need buses
and everywhere. It doesn't hurt if you have subways near bus stops. >> Stay informed about: Bus stops |

If you don't mind a little cheating, try downloading a Subway/bus stop combo
from the Sim City 4 site. I put one on every corner, eventually hook up the
subway system, and traffic is just not an issue.

Sherrie: What is the name of this transportation device? Is it "A Bus Stop
Subway Station"?
Thanks

Why would that be cheating? It isn't something that couldn't be done in any
city. Neither is light rail though that doesn't seem to be offered in the
game. >> Stay informed about: Bus stops |

Actually, I meant to say I put a station on one corner of every square in my
grid, not every corner.
I believe it's called a Subbusway station -- and I guess the only reason I
consider it to be cheating a bit is because it's something that isn't
included in the regular game.
