This is the second time I have ever seen this happen.

I got my cold sorc kamikazee to the Arreat Summit. She was all suited
up and ready to go. Tried to activate the Ancients. Nothing happened.
This happened once before to me with another character a few months
ago.

I opened the Quest log and it displayed the ol' "defeat the ancients,
etc'.

Opened a TP and retried.

No go.

Oh well she will have to have her turn tomorrow morning.

I think the minions of Diablo are screaming out "OH! OH! OH!" and
laughing at my frustration.

Big deal.

They did nto win anything.

The inevitable has merely been delayed for them.

OH! OH! OH!
