I've just had an email from a friend who reckons they broke their PS3 when
she "I changed the display settings and no I can't see anything".

Does anyone know what she may have done wrong?

Yup, she changed the display settings Smile

She will have plugged in an HDMI or component cable and done something
like selected 1080p resolution on a TV that can't display it, and then
pressed X in the 30 seconds after to confirm it. Tell her to connect
the PS3 via the composite cable (the yellow one with seperate red and
white audio that it comes with) and that will force the machine back
into standard resolution. Then switch it back and don't set the
settings too high Smile

I think you can also hold the power button down for a few seconds when you
turn it on to reset the display settings.
