Pretty neat, although I don't think there can really be just one map. Too
much changes from the start to the end of the series.

Looks good!
(Although with U7 being my "main" Ultima I would personally have
preferred a slightly different placement for Buccaneer's Den and a few
other places - but on the whole, most things seems to be right.)

Bordermarch, Farthing and Windmere could be added. Granted, they exist
only in one game.
Buccaneer's den should be due east of Paws (in U4 there's a clue to that
effect that enables you to find it in the first place).
The small "Vineyard Island" northeast of Buc's is also missing.
Hmmm... I don't remember that island directly in front of the coast of
Trinsic. From which game is that?

I considered adding them but as I said, I'm trying not to be game
specific. I tried to avoid things that disappeared after a single game.
I'm not too averse to them though as I am trying for as much detail as
possible.

I checked a map generated from the game data and in U4 it is east of a
point between Paws and the Fens of the Dead. The game maps for 5 and
6 also show it here so I'll move it a bit north. None of the maps,
computer or cloth show it directly east of Paws though. I placed it
based on the U5 cloth map which seems to have shifted it south to make
room for the game title. That said, a southerly position is appealing as
it justifies giving the Den a warmer climate.
> The small "Vineyard Island" northeast of Buc's is also missing.
That seems to have been U4 only, it's roughly where the Isle of Fire was
in U7.
> Hmmm... I don't remember that island directly in front of the coast of

That appeared in U6 and remained in U7.

Thanks, U7 is my favourite too, but it had to distort a few things to fit
in the gigantic towns, that's why I used U5 as my baseline. I did use U7
to refine the shapes of some of the islands and to decide on climate in
some places.

Damn, I'd been looking for that but couldn't find it.

You're right, it isn't. Just close enough that you won't sail past it
when you go east from Paws and look out for shallower water.

U4+U5, but it's a rather boring place anyway.

Strangely, my memory of the earlier parts is a lot better (probably has
to do with being young and impressible or some such...) Even when I
looked at a generated U6 map and saw it, it didn't seem to be something
I had ever seen before.

I have always been somewhat perplexed how climate is supposed to work
in a torus; it doesn't make much sense to jump straight from the palm
beaches of Jhelom to the windy forests of Yew. I would have preferred
the approach taken by Civ2 and others, where the map only wraps
horizontally and the poles occupy the northern and southern edges. But
the distribution of the Britannian landmass wouldn't be visually
pleasing nor very realistic if mapped to a globe, I suppose ("let's
see, can we fit anything more onto this square?").

I suppose it would be much like a globe although ocean currents would be
radically more complex. The outer portions and the top and bottom "ends"
of the torus would have weather as expected but the inner portion of the
torus, the dark zone as it were, would be a never-ending frozen wasteland.
Makes me think of Ring World, but without a sun in the middle, I guess.
