I'm not much of a fighter more of a lover so I like the whole breeding
aspect to the game. I've just started to dip my toe into this in D/P and
have been using Serebii as a guide to the new egg groups. Has anybody
noticed any changes to the breeding? I think I've noticed something but
don't want to colour anybodies reply, it might just be me.

I haven't actually tried yet, really, although I rely on the Daycare
Centre for training as much as breeding. I left a Prinplup and a
Golduck in there, and they had an egg (though I didn't accept it, so
no idea if, say, the baby Psyduck would've had any Egg/TM moves passed
down).
I might try experimenting later, though. Anything specific you want
me to try doing? Don't say what you've noticed - just give an example
of the kind of thing that might be affected now.

Pick a female and then try a few males from the same egg group and
seeing their reactions to each other.
Your pokemon are ready by the way so if you want to just ping me when
it is convenient for you to get into the Global room and Lucy and I will
transfer them over.

Hmm, I thought I'd mentioned something about this elsewhere, but I can't
find the post. Apologies if I'm repeating myself.
Do you mean that you're getting an undesirable message, like "they don't
seem to like each other"? Because they had that in RS, where the message
was negative even if they were able to breed. All it means is that there's
less of a chance of getting an egg, but it's still a reasonably good chance,
and if you walk/cycle long enough, you're bound to get one.
In RS, the only message that meant you COULDN'T get an egg was "they prefer
to play with other Pokémon" (which was basically code for "they're related
you sick freak!" - you could get it by trying to breed a mother with her
son, for instance).

I was trying to mate a Mr Mime,(female,) with a male Infernape, they were
unrelated but wanted nothing to do with one another even though they are
according to serebii in the same egg group. I did cycle up and down that
path, well shall we just say for a "reasonable" length of time.
Something just seems off a little when you look at the reactions and times
it takes to get an egg, it's probably just me.

I seem to remember that occasionally there would be something about
the stats affecting whether a pair could breed or not. It got the
same message as if they were related.

It's when the stats are the same as though they were related. Parents pass
down certain stat DVs, so if those match, they're "related". It's pretty
unlikely to happen in the wild by now, since there's a 1-in-32 chance of
getting a matching pair, and I believe two DVs need to match.
