I was just looking for a setting to help those of us without analogue
braking that would operate the brakes like ABS in a car.

Gears of War has a rather disconcerting problem in that it can't tell
the difference between an Xbox360 game controller and a joystick. If
you have a joystick plugged in the screen goes spinning to the left as
if you're holding the A key down to turn to the left. Unplug the
joystick and things are normal. This happens with a USB joystick, it
might not happen with a gameport joystick.

There's too ways to edit that. I can take it out, without losing much
meaning. Or just leave it intact and explain, for what it's worth, that it's
an unnecessary introductory phrase.

I was wrong. You can map left/right brakes individually to their own axis,
but not "Brakes" as in both together. I tried briefly mapping the rudder to
the left/right triggers on the 360 controller to free up the
clutch/accelerator pedals for FSX brakes. The brakes worked fine, with
really good progressive action. The rudder, though, really doesn't belong on
the hand controller at all. Can't work the quadrant while slipping it in on
the landing, for example.

Just to add to Mike's statement (and when don't I have something to
add?) there are tons of lists of abbreviations you'll find on the
Internet. A quick search came up with this one:

I have recently started playing Multi-Player which IS a challenge as
you die very quickly when shot. You really need the latest patch
installed 1.21 as you cannot connect to servers that are on a
different version than you are running and the majority use the latest
patch. I have just been playing 'Instant Action' which is a free for
all and easy to get into. 'Power Struggle' is a bit more complex with
objectives per team, there is an instruction video but I haven't
studied it much or tried playing that type yet. I played it the other
night with one other guy who had a sniper rifle and kept himself well
hidden, I just couldn't get near him. When ever he killed me he would
then move as his location is indicated. I actually saw him at one
point and sneeked round to where he was in an elevated spot. I
climbed round the side, selected Max Power to jump up and the bastard
had set a trip mine or something to protect his back ;-(

We should get a server set up for us guys to play against each other.
I'm looking into downloading some maps as some levels I tried
connecting too said 'map missing' so I presume they have to also exist
locally on your pc

This doesn't happen for me. I always have my USB joystick connected and
Gears of War doesn't do this on my XP system. Or do I misunderstand and
you refer to an A key button on a gamepad and not the A key on the
keyboard?
