So I bought Kitchen and Bath Stuff... And now the damn thing won't install
properly!
It installs the SP just fine, then it says it will check if installation is
up to date, goes through that OK and then for some unfathomable reason it
attempts to patch Seasons, fails to do so, then proceeds to uninstall the
SP. I have tried cancelling the Seasons patch attempt, but the result is the
same - it uninstalls K&B regardless, because that also counts as failure to
patch Seasons.
I have backed up my hoods, downloads, cameras, etc etc. I'm thinking that in
Aus we got some sort of auto Seasons (and perhaps FT) patching version
because they stuffed up the electronics in this SP by making them based on
Pets and leaving out the Seasons and FT interactions. So maybe if I
uninstall Seasons then the K&B installation will by-pass attampting to patch
an EP that is no longer there. And I can put in the fix from MATY instead of
using the borked K&B auto patch.
Is this (uninstalling Seasons so it won't attempt to patch it) likely to
work?
Cheers!

I installed K&B without problems but all my packs and updates are US.
I like your legacy page, BTW. It has inspired me to start one. >> Stay informed about: Borked install of SP? |

Try a manual install? Instructions over at EA Games site in the technical
help section.
Best wishes

Thanks (on both counts!).
And let us know when you do the legacy. Would love to read it!
I'm working on an update now. I was sick (flu - the real thing not just a
cold) for 2 weeks and couldn't play without getting a blinding headache so
this week is the first chance I've had to play in a while. And even so I'm
not getting in much playing time. I built them a new house and wanted to
decorate with some of the new K&B stuff and the damn thing just won't
install and keeps failing at the patching phase.
I'm off to uninstall Seasons, install K&B again, then reinstall Seasons.
Crossing fingers and toes that this works and I don't have to uninstall FT
as well!
Cheers!

Ugh - not nice. Nice to be getting better isn't it?
I hate being ill - mind you, I suppose I have more reason than most to do
so.
Best wishes

And is K&B worth it? I am mildly tempted by this pack, thinking I might be
able to ditch some custom stuff, if it's good.

I didn't have any problems with K&B with everything installed - so it's your
game that has this problem (isn't that nice when that happens?). But I do
know that when you install Seasons back over the top the patch from in K&B
will probably pop back up again. When I installed my EP's in reverse order
to avoid the screaming baby killing patch (and others) the patches were
installed anyway when the appropriate EP's were installed - so they're
stealthed into the PC somehow and lie in wait.

I haven't really had time to play around much with it. It's got a couple of
new counters and new appliances in multiple colours. Since I've pared back
my CC I've grabbed a couple of SPs so that I have slightly greater variety
in clothes and furnishings. I don't like it anywhere near as much as I like
Teen Style Stuff and H&M, both of which came with pretty good clothes and
the first came with nice furniture. I wish it had come with more decor
items. A couple of towel racks with zero recolours don't do much for
bathroom variety. And quite a few of the items I recognised as blatant
rip-offs of CC I used to have in my game. I was a bit underwhelmed but it's
nice to have new items anyway And I like the wall and floor coverings.
Maybe have a look at the pictures on the official Sims 2 site and see if you
like the items? My slightly disappointed reaction is mostly due to the fact
that I was really hoping for more counter clutter and I got paintings and a
new rug instead. LOL
Cheers!

LOL! I have H&M and I do like that, not just more clothes but also nicer
shops. A couple of people have said Teen Stuff is good. Shame about the
lack of decor, but what I have seen looks quite nice.
