Just going through the OC again - this time I thought I'd try Boddyknock
Glinckle on part two.

Is it just me, or is he *completely* useless?

He's completely useless.

I think he was the only one of the OC companions who didn't reappear in
HOTU.

Did you find that iron golem? I'm tempted to play the blasted thing again
just so I remember where it was and what I did about it originally.

Best wishes

First time through, I played without any of the henchmen because they
were so annoying and useless.

Reading a bit, I found that they will provide useful items if you
complete their quests, so next time around, I took them with me, but
always told them to stay put so they wouldn't run off and get killed.

There's a AI improvement module that helps tremendously, don't recall
what it's named.

You can play through the campaign solo and still get the rewards. The
henchmen are all looking for objects that are found in each chapter. Their
dialogue with you is based on your level. Each time you gain a level they
will reveal more about what they are looking for.You do not have to hire any
of them until you are near to the end of the chapters. If you have the
correct objects near the end of the chapters you can hire them one at a
time, run through the dialogue and get your goody.

The only henchman I ever used in the OC was Tommy. It's tough picking
locks as a paladin! If I have any rogue skills then I preferred to solo.
I think I briefly tried each of them but found all but Tommy to be
useless. For my playing style, anyway. Smile

I think your last statement is the key - if they suit your style they are
not useless. I went through the OC originally with Linu with me playing a
ranger - she was a good healer and together we made an effective pair of
fighters. The second time I went through with Daelan when I played a
wizard - I needed a tank for that and he was just fine. I also used Tomi
quite a bit and used all three again in HOTU at various points, though you
can't beat Deekin as a henchperson.

Best wishes
