Woody,
Lot's of hits on Google for "cmuda3.sys" which you may want to try if you
haven't already.
PC troubleshooting = minimize the system and isolate the problem.
Since you can recreate the problem at will - the hard part is over.
Try doing it in Safe Mode - if it doesn't fail, most likely a driver that
gets loaded in normal mode.
1. Use the Run command and msconfig to turn off all Startup - reboot and try
2. Use Task Manger to start ending some services and try the program.
3. Pull out the extra cards on the motherboard that are not needed for
minimum operation of the PC
4. Remove any USB or other cables connected to peripheral devices and then
use the keyboard only to control FS.
It's noteworthy that the BSOD occurs during a transition where sound may be
a factor. A new sound card but if the mb has on-board sound chip - be sure
it's turned off - may be a BIOS setting you need to change.
Reduce the resolution on your monitor(s) and minimize all the settings for
FS. If you have multiple monitors be sure the FS window is not overlapping
onto another monitor (performance hit) and use full-screen mode.
There's a lot more to try but if a Google search doesn't nail it down, then
try the above in a logical manner and keep minimizing until you can't go any
further and/or the problem goes away.
Let the group know what you find so others can benefit from your
headaches.....
