Anyone had problems with the above BS in FS9. It happens just as the
nosewheel lifts on takeoff. Module is cmuda3.sys. Fails same each try. My
system board smoked so I upgraded to a 64 bit AMD dual processor New sound
card and PCIE graphics. I have removed and reinstalled and inst latest
drivers all the above as well as FS9.

Woody,

Lot's of hits on Google for "cmuda3.sys" which you may want to try if you
haven't already.

PC troubleshooting = minimize the system and isolate the problem.

Since you can recreate the problem at will - the hard part is over.

Try doing it in Safe Mode - if it doesn't fail, most likely a driver that
gets loaded in normal mode.

1. Use the Run command and msconfig to turn off all Startup - reboot and try
2. Use Task Manger to start ending some services and try the program.
3. Pull out the extra cards on the motherboard that are not needed for
minimum operation of the PC
4. Remove any USB or other cables connected to peripheral devices and then
use the keyboard only to control FS.

It's noteworthy that the BSOD occurs during a transition where sound may be
a factor. A new sound card but if the mb has on-board sound chip - be sure
it's turned off - may be a BIOS setting you need to change.

Reduce the resolution on your monitor(s) and minimize all the settings for
FS. If you have multiple monitors be sure the FS window is not overlapping
onto another monitor (performance hit) and use full-screen mode.

There's a lot more to try but if a Google search doesn't nail it down, then
try the above in a logical manner and keep minimizing until you can't go any
further and/or the problem goes away.

Let the group know what you find so others can benefit from your
headaches.....Wink

Error caused by the sound drivers, do you use a force feedback
joystick? Did you try lowering the sound acceleration via dxdiag?

I haven't seen blue screens in association with FS9. In general, a
blue screen is almost invariably caused by bad drivers. Video drivers
are especially suspect, particularly in a case like this. However,
cmuda3.sys is the driver for your audio interface. Make sure you have
the most recent _certified_ version of the driver installed.

Unfortunately everything you suggest I have tried in the last couple days
including analyzing the debug system dump. I think I have read every article
in google and yahoo search as well as Microsoft KB. The file is a c-media
driver installed by the Diamond Xtreme drivers. My next move is to change
sound cards to see if that changes it. Thanks for the reply and
suggestions....

Thanks for the tip Katy. Lowering the hardware acceleration fixed it. I had
to lower it to Basic to get it to work. I use the CH yoke.
