Okay, here we go again. Another last (?) update before Dark Messiah and
Gothic 3 hit the shelfes in the USA. This time I fixed some critical stuff
like the bar in Ming's temple as well as details that you probably never
noticed . The patch can be found as usual first on www.3dgamers.com and
then all over the net and the changes are listed below. Have fun ...
v3.1
----
Unbarred Ming's temple door and hopefully fixed Beckett's wait bug.
Made Copper leave for infusion and restored Pisha's meal cutscene.
Removed hunter when Ash is gone and erected more tipped over props.
Turned character screens music off and lowered Venus' cut to $125.
Fixed ammo in Romero's trunk and reduced zombie spawning frequency.
Restored Jeanette/Therese struggling scene and a few Heather lines.
Made speech stop when Bruno enters and fixed some Giovanni guards.
Corrected errors in dialogues of Christopher, Milligan and Jezebel.
Deleted theatre statists and restored Larry's quest for Nosferatu.
Changed some weapon infos and moved Giovanni Mansion diving boards.

His recent updates have gameplay changes as well, which is something
that could be done as a separate project. It's one thing, going
through the script files and fixing broken quests, lost dialogues and
other such things, but changing the difficulty level of certain
sections, adding items, tweaking respawning rates are not bug fixes.
When I play Bloodlines (it's in the backlog), I'd rather download the
official 1.2 patch and suffer through the bugs that Werner might have
fixed in unofficial updates, because I don't want gameplay changes
beyond what the developers put forth.

Well, normally it goes like this: I upload a patch and a group of loyal
fans from the planet vampire boards plays through the whole game (!) in a
few days and up until now always managed to find some more small bugs. I
then fix it, wait until all error reports cease and then upload the patch.
Maybe with Gothic 3 out the whole cycle slows down or maybe we finally
have fixed all that we possible can . We'll see in the next days...

If only most software devs had testing & QA methodologies as rigorous as
yours Werner, they might still be in business!

We didn't change much regarding the gameplay and you will miss a lot of
stuff that was originally designed by the developers but didn't end up in
the game due to bugs. It's your choice.

So, is the latest patch stable? And can I use my old saves with it? I
intended my first play-through with just the official patch, but I hit
a gamestopper - the bar at Ming's door won't budge, even after I
restarted the mission. There isn't a key or something along those lines
for the door, is there? TIA. If I am able to complete the game, then
I'll have you to thank for it. I enjoyed it a lot - even the later
unfinished areas aren't as bad as they are painted, at least with
Toreador with maxed out melee skills and a couple of points in
sneaking. Will definitely replay it with a male Malkavian at some
point... >> Stay informed about: Bloodlines unofficial patch 3.1 released! |
