I was able to watch a 10-minute gameplay demo, and it really does look
fantastic. The idea of "hiding" in broad daylight and not doing anything to
attract attention is really cool. The crowd/NPC AI looks pretty
revolutionary. And you can basically climb ANYTHING that has the slightest
handhold. It played like a blend of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia.
The Ubi developer demoing the game told me it was running on a high end PC
though, not a PS3 devkit. Maybe Ubi is another one of those devs that Sony
has failed to properly equip with enough devkits, in which case I wouldn't
count on Assassins Creed being a launch game. Alos, Ubi is way too smart to
limit this game to a platform that will only have an installed base of 2
million by Christmas, when the 360 will be closer to 8 or 10. You can bet
that just as Splinter Cell found its way onto PS2, Assassin's Creed will be
on the 360. Give it six months, tops.
