Black Screen when turn on

Hi,

I have a silver playstation 2 (pal) that has stopped working, when only
18 months old.

When you turn it on, the fan etc kicks in but you just get a black
screen, no browser etc. Once every now and then I might get lucky and
it works.

I have took it to bits and had a look, but there is nothing clearly
wrong inside. I don't really know what I am looking for though.

I have tried a new lead, and my leads in another ps2 and there is no
issue with them.

Does anyone have any ideas or know of any repair shops in North West
England? Or should I just cut my losses and chuck it in the bin?

The PS2's are pretty much disposable at this point. It would probably cost
you more to have it repaired than to just buy a new (or used) one.
