Bizzare question: NWN2

No thats not the message. The message is exactly: "I'm, sorry, it doesnt
look like I'm in the Neverwinter Nights 2 install directory. Please put me
back, or re-install Neverwinter Nights 2." whatever that means? Basically
after a google and some reading, it looks like after doing a defrag of my C
drive, some file was 'moved' and the auto run application doesnt want to
show up. I can still boot up NWN2 without any issues (go into the folder in
the C drive and click nwn2.exe) and also i can lauch the update thingy the
same way, though i tired to update and after a while of downloading updates
it came up with a message in red saying update failed...

So long as i can play nwn2 its not really that big of an issue, im somewhere
in the start/middle of chapter 3 so as soon as i finish the game i might
look into a reinstall to fix the problem, in time for the expansion pack. It
could do some good - in an excessive saver and my saves folder is +6GB!!!!

did you installed nwn2 in the default directory or in another one of your
choice ?
What about reinstalling trhe game in the default directory after having it
uninstalled and manualy deleting any left over folders/files ?

Sorry if it's a bit late (10 days), but I don't read this group
frequently.

Looks like you have autorun enabled... you put your CD/DVD in, and the
autorun tried to locate your NWN2 installation... and it couldn't find
it.

Programs usually use the windows registry to locate installations...
looks like in your case, the registry entries for NWN2 was modified
unexpectedly.

It could be:
1) A typo on your part (say, when you tried to modify your registry)
2) An intruder modifying your registry
3) An overzealous registry cleaner program changed or removed them.

Defrag can't cause that problem... how it moves the data is
transparent to application programs.

If you are not familiar with modifying registry (actually, if you are
familiar with editing registry, you would have fixed the problem
yourself by now ), I would suggest a reinstall.
