I was just browsing for any new info on Fallout 3 and didn't find much, but did
see some info on Elder Scrolls 'Oblivion' which may provide some insight on
where Bethesda will be going with F3. It sounds good as far as role playing and
character interaction. It may sound bad for the purists in perspective and
Turn-Based, Third Person combat.

Extract from Bethesda's E.S.-O. Development page:

In keeping with the Elder Scrolls tradition, players will have the option to
experience the main quest at their own pace, and there will be plenty of
opportunities to explore the vast world and make your own way. Numerous factions
can be joined, such as the thieves or mages guilds, and each contains its own
complete storyline and the chance to rise to the head of the faction and reap
further rewards.

Oblivion features a groundbreaking new AI system, called Radiant AI, which gives
non-player characters (NPCs) the ability to make their own choices based on the
world around them. They'll decide where to eat or who to talk to and what
they'll say. They'll sleep, go to church, and even steal items, all based on
their individual characteristics. Full facial animations and lip-synching,
combined with full speech for all dialog, allows NPCs to come to life like never
before.

In these days of accelerating product placement in movies, Pesi, Coke,
Marlbourgh, Sony, Ford, on and on. Why not expect a Hummer, with Edsel
Chrome detailing, and fish tails, or a Smith and -'Hitachi' - Ion Blaster?

Those might hide behind the FO tradition, or contextual fig leaf, of
excessive Easter Eggs and hyper active (U.S.) pop culture references.

This sales trend could snowball, having the story morph into a Flash,
interactive, magazine with an ad on every page, like most present web
sights, world wide, ... must be getting the market-eers 'wet' with
anticipation.

Multimedia has become multi-marketing.

I cringe, then smile when I picture the encounter with Sponge Bob and then
select a weapon. I'll take the double-barreled-turbo-Hitachi please...
