Post subject: Beware of misleading Ebay listings
Archived from groups: alt>games>wargames (more info?)

While viewing item # 170157854618 I noticed a discrepancy..

The title of the Ebay auction is: New/Shrink! (War on Terror) Board Game
Avalon Hill GMT

The seller i.d. is: armed-medic

The Confusion:

Neither GMT nor Avalon Hill is connected to the game advertised-- It is
manufactured by a company named
TerrorBull, apparently a U.K. company.

I contacted the seller, armed-medic, and asked him why he used those titles
in the listing and he advised me that it
was simply for advertising purposes to attract attention and that he was not
attempting to mislead anyone.

I tend to feel that he was honest, but userswho are new to the wargaming
genre will need to look closely at listings
which may appear to list obscure Avalon Hill or GMT titles that in reality
have nothing to do with those companies.

What the seller seems to be implying is that the game is like some designed
by Avalon Hill or GMT.

This just reminds us to be careful to read the full listings on a title..
