How do I get the De Haviland Beaver,a fixed float aircraft,to start a flight
on water?
I have searched bunches of start locations in Canada, specifically
Ontario, and ALL place the craft on solid ground, runways and ramps etc.Am I
an idiot?
Thanx

You're not an idiot. In FS2004, all of the seaplane bases were in the
U.S. (Yes, how silly.) That may still be true, even though FSX has more
airports.

Solution: go to the AVSIM file library and search FS2004 scenery for
"ontario."

You'll find a good number of seaplane bases, and most if not all will
still work in FSX.

Go to any airport near a coast and select your amphibian. It will be placed
at the start of a runway. Then press Y to slew and F4 to rise upwards. Press
Y again and you will be flying. Land on the water where you want to be and
save the flight.

Or easier yet select your aircraft, go to the map mode and drag the plane
with the mouse to anywhere you want it.

I asked the same question a few months back. The sectionals show a distinct
symbol for seabases. If you have Deluxe, install the SDK and enable the
Tools menu. One of the tools is an airport dumper. It dumps a textual list
of all airports in the database, and describes each runway. Seabases have
water runways, rather than hard or soft. In theory, you could find every
airport with water runways, and pick the one you want. I gave up on
amphibians at this point...
