Can WoW be played on more than one system or are you
locked into the original system you installed on?
I have several systems in the house, my daughter plays
WoW currently on the laptop but it would be nice to have
her use one of the desktops also at times. Can this be
done?
Thanks.

You can also just copy the Wow folder from the laptop to the desktop
computer,
if you have a network or an external hard drive to facilitate the move.
Blizzard didn't use
any registry entries so installation from scratch is unnecessary. Plus,
you'd have to
download and install recent patches and your mods if you installed from
the original CDs

You can play it on any system with the game installed. I have two PC's in my
office, mine and an auxilliary machine. Oftentimes my friends would come
over and play WoW on my auxilliary PC while I played on the main PC - made
communicating and group coordination very simple to be sitting in the same
room.

Yes. Install the software on the extra computer(s). No need to buy the
software again, just use the original CDs.

However, she will not be able to play on both computers at the same time
unless you buy another copy.

Yep. That's why I burned a DVD of my WoW installation. My Cd's are ancient,
like v1.01 or something like that, so the amount of patches I'd have to
download if I reinstalled from scratch is...well...I don't want to think
about it.

Thanks all for the info, will give it a try.
One more question though. Do you
have to sync the folders periodically?
How often if the answer is yes?
Thanks again.

The only time you would have to is if you changed the addons on one
machine or a patch came out

You don't really need to sync it at all unless a patch comes out or
you put a mod or a macro on one that you would like on the other. In
ether case, just the Interface folder can be synced and just copy the
downloaded patch.

Character info is stored server side. But add-ons, macros, and any UI
changes you have made are stored on your computer. It would be nice to have
both machines with the same UI mods and data - but it certainly is not
necessary.

When I play at my daughter's home, her UI setup is not the same as mine. I
just deal.
