I know Solarians, IMT and Privateers are allowed to set bases on
asteroid fields, but aren't bases on planets supposed to disapear when
they explode? I ask this because right now, they don't.
Of course this can be exploited mostly by Solarians: they can use the
targeter without worrying for anything but the ordenance, they blow up
their HW planet and come out with a homeworld with crazy amount of
minerals and a soil of 600 (on their HW they can auto-terraform to
climate 50+ in a blink). Nice, huh? >> Stay informed about: Bases on asteroids |

If any of those races are on a planet that explodes, they will lose the
base. So the only benefits they get are that they can beam down people
and create a base on asteroids. Other races can not do this.
If I recall correctly, you can not farm on asteroids. And the soil
increase only works for when you use a Proto-Matter Cannon on an
asteroid. (forming a new unstable planet with good minerals)
The only thing that concerns me, is the use of base shields on
asteroids. And solarian gets free base shields with high population.
Also, solarian on an asteriod can use their Stellar Matter Launcher
with out fear of blowing up the planet. But that isn't a big deal.
Only when they use it with crystal hyper laids. That is scary.

As of a couple of host version ago these race do not lose there bases
when the planet they are on exploded to a asteroid belt. Tested with a
couple of accidents when playing privs. Do not know if this was new
effect, or if this has since been changed/fixed.

Correct. Soil rating of asteroids are always 0, and cant be modified
unless protomattered back to a planet. Key reason for the solarians not
likeing astroids as food is always there key shortage, though obviously
the IMT dont really care as they cant farm anyway.

I forgot about asteroids being unfarmable, thanks for pointing that
out.
Nevertheless, I still think that shouldn't happen. It's OK to colonize
an asteroid field for those races, but keeping bases over exploding
planets sounds like a bug to me. >> Stay informed about: Bases on asteroids |

To me too, of course its a bug. Playing IMT I had a planet about to
explode so I evacuated what I could, I got no message of planet
exploding or base destroyed and sure enough the base was still there
same as before but on an asteroid. I don't see any reason for it to
work this way. >> Stay informed about: Bases on asteroids |

Playing IMT a few months ago with Host 195, I lost several bases when
their planets disintegrated / exploded into asteroid belts.
Oddly though, when asteroids reform into planets, your base is OK.

My vote is for the promatter cannon to destroy these bases on asteroids
when the asteroid is reformed into a planet.
I second the fact that this does not happen now with host 197.
