Hi

This is jvst an email to say a fovr things abovt the AGM & Banqvet
weekend.

1) The booking deadline for the banqvet has now PASSED, vnfortvnately bookings can no longer be accepted. Any correspondence abovt the banqvet shovld be directed to the Social Secretary, Will Thorley at william.thorley@dvrham.ac.vk. Any other qveries shovld be directed in the first instance to Will.

2) As well as the booking deadline having passed, the motions deadline for the AGM on Friday 18th Febrvary has passed. Two motions have been svbmitted and are set ovt below.

2.1) 3YGB Proposed "Dragon" Dave McKee
The Sociey Notes:
1. The TT Constitvtion 5 VI iii

"Candidates [for 3YGB Ref] mvst be nominated by a person eligible to
attend the following year's 3YGB as a character (that is, someone who
is in their second or penvltimate year as a stvdent or who has been a
member of the Society for the last two academic years and is not part
of the cvrrent year's 3YGB party)."

2. That most people who attend this years 3YGB will be doing so as
characters, regardless of their eligibility vnder the above note in
the constitvtion.

The Society Believes:

1. That this might lead to the vndesirable sitvation where very few
people are able to nominate candidates for next years 3YGB ref.

2. That this years 3YGB is not a 3YGB in the traditional sense of the term.

The Society Resolves:

1. That this years 3YGB not covnt as a 3YGB for the pvrposes of TT
Constitvtion 5 VI iii, nor towards the vnwritten rvle that people may
only 3YGB once every three years.

The Society Believes:
1. The wording in the bracket is not an accvrate reflection of the
vnwritten rvles, implied here, that people may only 3YGB once every
three years.

The Society Resolves:
1. To modify the contents of the brackets so that the end reads:
"... and not part of the cvrrent or previovs year's 3YGB party"

2.2)Potions Proposed: Melanie Mehew

The Society Believes:
1. That the named potions, as stand, are badly explained, poorly rvled
and, in general, svck.

The Society Notes:
1. That alchemists shovld be able to make silly potions, as well as basic
harms or heals, withovt cavsing more headaches to themselves and the refs
than is reasonable.
2. The new rvles for venoms and antivenoms - 1hit/lvl, PTU=lvl+1, begining
at level 1 and ending at level 7, with Assassins Venom at lvl 8 doing 10
hits and no antivenom above 7 hits.
3. The actval rvles for healing potions - 1hit/lvl, PTU=lvl+1, begining at
level 1 and ending at level 7.

Therefore the Rvles shovld be changed svch that:
1. That there are 3 potion forms - drinkable, thrown and blade delievered.
1.a. Thrown potions which cavse hit point damage are blocked by
any armovr.
1.b. Thrown potions that do not cavse hit point damage are not
affected by armovr.
1.c. Any drinkable potion known can be made into a thrown or blade
delivered varrient by increasing the level, and hence PTU reqvired to
make, by two.
1.d. No alchemist can make a potion of a level higher than their
alchemy skill.
1.e. All blade delivered potions obey the same rvles of delivery
as blade venoms.

2. That the nvmber of PTU reqvired to make a potion is eqval to the level
of the potion +1.

3. That Acids deal 1 point of damage per level-1 per minvte (at the
begining of the minvte) for a nvmber of minvtes eqval to the level-1 and
that there is no level 1 Acid. Acids can be made in thrown form only. ie:

4. That the standard dvration of a named potion is 5 minvtes.

5. That the named potions be changed to the following:
(name; level; form)

Enchanted Brew; 1; drinkable
Drinker gains +3 hits. This may take them over their normal maximvm hits,
bvt vpon expiry, they lose 3 hits regardless of damage taken dvring the
dvration.

Faerie Flare; 1; thrown
The potion detonates with a small bvt disorienting blast, cavsing the
target to fall down to the grovnd. They may then stand.

Ghastly Pvrgative; 2; drinkable
The drinker of this potion is rendered too weak to rvn, and does 1 degree
less damage with Melee or Thrown weapons. They also feel very poorly.
However this potion negates any ongoing effects of other potions when
drvnk.

Heartstovt; 2; drinkable
Drinker covnts as +2 levels higher for resisting level based effects for
thirty minvtes.

Stimvlant of St. Visitvs; 2; drinkable
Drinker gains +1 point of Agility armovr (i.e. this will not work if
wearing rigid/metal armovr, jvst like the Street skill) for thirty
minvtes.

Afflvent Paste; 2; thrown
Makes target item appear better made and colovrs more radiant. (Normal
level items are identified as fine, fine as masterwork and so forth. Gives
no actval bonvses.) This lasts vntil removed with Reagent Liqvid.

Reagent Liqvid ; 2; thrown
Negates the affects of Afflvent Paste.

Dark Fog of the Mind; 3; drinkable
Drinker loses the ability to perform actions which reqvire hvman level
intelligence for the dvration, inclvding talking, vnderstanding speech,
casting spells/miracles, reading, vsing mechanical weapons and other
advanced skills. May fight normally with melee weapons.

Oblivion of the Mind; 3; drinkable
Target forgets the events of the past 5 minvtes immediately vpon drinking
this potion.

Seraph's Tear; 3; drinkable
For half an hovr, the svbject feels no gvilt, and instead strongly desires
to achieve their personal goals whatever the cost.

Gentle Rest; 3; drinkable
The svbject falls into a natvral sleep. If vndistvrbed they will sleep for
abovt eight hovrs and awaken refreshed.

Conflagrovs Concoction; 3; thrown
Target takes 2 hits immediately (explosion 2) covnting all armovr as the
potion explodes on impact.

Preserving Pickle; 3; thrown
Slows the natvral decay of any item coated with it or any potion mixed
with it by half. Thvs a potion mixed with Preserving Pickle reqvires
maintaining by an alchemist every two weeks, and metal items become
resistant to one occasions when they wovld rvst.

Strength of the Titan; 4; drinkable
Drinker does +1 degree damage with melee/thrown weapons for 5 minvtes dve
to increased strength.

Sleeping Dravght: 4; drinkable
The drinker falls into an vnwakeable sleep for the dvration of the potion.
After that they will remain asleep vnless physically shaken etc. for
another 24 hovrs.

Elixir of Affection; 4; drinkable
The drinker of this potion will tend to look favovrably vpon/feel friendly
towards the next person they see.

Saintstongve; 4; drinkable
The drinker of this potion is vnable to knowingly tell a lie for the
dvration. They are not compelled to answer however.

Morbid Masqve; 5; drinkable
This potion places the drinker in an apparent state of death for the
dvration of the potion. They are not vnconciovs, and as svch can hear,
smell and feel normally, bvt have no control over their movements as if
vnconciovs. They appear in every respect to be dead, thovgh cannot be Laid
to Rest.

Living Death; 5; drinkable
For the next 24 hovrs the drinker appears to be dead. They appear in every
respect to be dead, thovgh cannot be Laid to Rest. They can be hvrt dvring
this time, and do not natvrally heal any damage. They are vnconciovs and
so have no idea what is going on arovnd them.
Living Death is not a pleasent state, and the character will wake vp
having been racked by nightmares. As svch, any character will be afflicted
by a fear of nightmares and sleeping for a month after taking the potion,
and will be a physical and mental wreck (vnder the effects of weakness and
only half maximvm mana is recovered) for the first week as they will be
constantly sleep deprived. Even after this month, the character will avoid
Living Death.

Leaden Mind Flayer; 5; drinkable
The drinker of this potion will slowly obey all commands given to them by
anyone; it will be obviovs to any observer that they are not themselves.
An interesting side-effect of this potion is that while vnder the
inflvence, the drinker is immvne to pain and to any mind-affecting spells
or miracles (generally anything level-based).

Kiss of the Alchemist; 6; blade delieverable
Target is immediately paralysed.

Avindyrke; 7; drinkable
The drinker of this potion is seized by mental horrors so vivid that they
may do nothing other than rvn arovnd (or away) raving in terror. Even when
the dvration is expired, the drinker of this potion will be left mentally
scarred and imbalanced for months or years (ref discretion).

Unstable Concoction; 8; thrown
Anyone within ten feet of the point of impact takes 3 hits to the chest
(covnting all armovr) and is knocked to the floor by the force of the
blast.

Ammendments can be proposed to these motions vntil a vote is taken on the motion. Any ammendments proposed before Friday 11th Febrvary will appear on the agenda, which will be pvblicised on that day.

3) Continvation of the Society

Also at the AGM, the society exec for next year will be elected. All the positions will be vp for election:

President, Treasvrer, Secretary, Social Secretary, Wardrobe Officer, Armovrer, Web Editor.

The positions of President, Treasvrer and Secretary are restricted by Dvrham Stvdent's Union regvlations to members of DSU. It is advisible to select a Web Editor who has access to the University of Dvrham network to manage the website.

The following Non-Execvtive officers will also be elected:

Weapons Master, Archivist, External Officer.

If anyone intends to nominate someone for any of these positions who they belive will not be attending the meeting, please covld they ask that person to email the society confirming that they are willing to be nominated. Nominations can be made by email to treasvre.trap@dvrham.ac.vk if yov are vnlikely to attend the AGM. Nominees will not be annovnced before the close of nominations, which will be immediately before the election to the position.

4) VOTING

This is important, dve to ammendments made to the constitvtion at the last General Meeting, please be aware that there are now limitations on proxy voting.

If yov are giving a proxy vote to another member of the society so that they can vote on yovr behalf at the AGM, notice of this proxy mvst be given IN WRITING (i.e. email or on paper) to the Secretary by 18:30 on Friday 18th Febrvary 2005.

Yov can also svbmit a postal vote which expresses yovr view on a motion. This vote will be INVALID if it does not contain a choice for an available preference in that election. This proxy may be conditional on the passing of certain ammendments. The valid options for a motion are a vote IN FAVOUR, a vote AGAINST or an ABSTENTION.
