We really *REALLY* should not go there. At all. But if we were to, using WoW
as evidence would make just as much sense as those wacky id-people do

Yes, and that makes it even more impossible to define an era for WoW. To
draw an analogy to what happened "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far
away", the possibilities are endless.

That got me thinking (and now my head hurts); I could imagine an MMORPG
future in which all the worlds merge. The alliance discovers SWG and gets
cut to pieces by light sabers and lasers, horde zergs Second Life and stomps
everything in sight. That would be avesome! Someone just needs to invent a
generic protocol to make this happen...

You can't but I wonder when these people found out their name was mis-spelt,
if it was in the 20's I would of deleted it and started again, but I guess
other people can't be bothered/don't have enough time.

It is possible but a bit risky.

Delete your character, get a friend to create a lvl 1 with the exact same
name your character had, ask a GM to restore your character and he will ask
you for a new name.

Happened to me, I deleted a character and left it months, someone else I
didn't know chose the name in those months it was deleted, then I decided to
get it back, but I had to choose a new name.

You will get your character back exactly how you left it.

Heh, I guess he probably would; though he was in a Twink guild, so he
probably only does the Battlegrounds. I certainly wouldn't jump at the
chance of grouping with someone like that.

One thing I'm entirely sick to death of is guilds with 'of Azeroth' or 'of
Kalimdor' in their name. Just how many variations can one expect to see on a
single realm? LOTS!
*Pirates of Kalimdor
*Warriors of Azeroth
*Defenders of Azeroth
*Legions of Kalimdor
etc, etc, etc

And yeah, my realm too has a guild named "My Little Pwnies". Sigh...

We also had a number of little guilds spring up as fanclubs of player X of
the opposing faction. Most notorious ganker was an orc hunter named Tokro.
There was an alliance guild formed up called <Friends of Tokro> that had
quite a following. He ganked them just the same as any other alliance.

Then there was <We Love Lanfear> alliance guild. Lanfear was one of the
first 60's on the realm, and although the name is a total ripoff from the
Wheel of Time series, and there are 1000's of variations of Lanfear across
the realms, this one was a major server personality that everybody knew.
Otherwise known as the Mayor of Lakeshire, for her habit of camping in the
Lakeshire town hall and seeing how long it took for alliance to get her out
of there (many times she just gave up and left after a few hours, remember
this was the day when 60's were very rare)

Horde guild <Served> was the primo endgame PvE guild, back in the days when
nobody had yet cleared MC. When they inevitably broke up, somebody on
alliance made a <Grats Served> guild, as that phrase went around to any
horde guild's accomplishments, due to them having a bunch of ex-Served
propping them up.
