OK, so I'm jumping the gun a little in asking for help here. I haven't even
started trying to search out the source of my problem but I'm hoping to
cheat and bypass some of the search by magically finding the answer here.

I have a Sim (Invisi Pescado) who is in the Science Career (LTW Mad
Scientist) and was at about level four (High School Teacher) when she
started freezing my game everytime the car pool came (I haven't tried
getting her to change for work yet). I thought it might be a conflict with
the work uniform at that level and thought to quick fix it by using SimPE to
bump her up a level. She crashed the game again when the car pool came.

I've had this problem once before (with Cassandra Goth) and I simply had her
quit the job (it wasn't necessary for Cassandra to work for either her LTW
or the money). IIRC (big if) Cassandra crashed the game when she changed
into her work uniform using the dresser _and_ even when I got her a
different job. But I know that the job that Cassandra started the crashing
with was in the Science Career because I know she was a new iteration of
Pleasant View.

Tomorrow I will try with a testing Neighbourhood to see if a brand new
female in the Science Career causes crashes but I was wondering if anyone
had any suggestions or stories of a similar nature to share.

Replace objects.package? It's about the best I can do. I can't think of
any specific bugs with the careers (unless you changed something) - if there
were bugs with the careers, you can bet we'd know about it. Also, sometimes
two career levels use the same outfit - maybe try promoting her twice?
Other thing - maybe a custom career interfering?

Best wishes

No - at least not that I know of. I used to have the two LS jobs, but
haven't reinstalled them. I shall add careers to my search list.

So far I've managed to prove that;

a. it _is_ something I've got in my downloads folder and not inherent to
my game.
b. it isn't one of my main mods.
c. it isn't in my Cars, Genetics or Objects folders.

Of course I'm leaving the biggest suspect until last - my Accessories folder
contans Jewelery, Makeup, Glasses, Overlays, Stubble and the biggest suspect
of all Clothing.

Oh - maybe an outfit with a conflicting GUID? That really shouldn't happen.
You know, we could do with a GUID checker.

Matbe that would be a good request to make to Paladin...seems right up
his bailiwick...and would probably solve a lot of these ytpes of
problems without the eternalfile splitting technique..

That seems most likely. I'm down to only Clothing now. I mean, I've had
outfits that replaced the naked texture (and that's an ugly one to find) and
then there were the dress tops that could cause crashes. When I figure out
exactly what it is I'll be sure to post here and let people know.

Trouble is, you'd need to check them against a list of all Maxis GUIDs too.
I bet there are 1000s. Actually, there's already a GUID database over at
SimPE (for object makers to check). I wonder if they have all the Maxis
GUIDs. It's also the sort of thing Numenor might do but if there was a real
need for it in modding, I'd guess it might have been made by now.

My game no longer crashes - but I have no idea why. Nothing was permenantly
removed and yet the dress for work freeze has stopped.

Is this good or bad? I mean, you don't know do you, it might start again.
