Just fired up my FS9 for the first time since re-installing it, and
jumped in the (default) 737-400 for a quick test flight from Avalon to
Melbourne.

I have no idea what I used to have my settings on before, to get the
awesome images I used to get, but now, it's all blurry once it gets a
short distance from the a/c, and there isn't much in the way of
autogen, even with settings right up. No stuttering, and steady rates
at 30 with setting for unlimited, so that side is ok, and antialiasing
was set by the drivers, as the setting didn't 'stick' when only done by
the sim.
Much tweaking to do it seems. Maybe when I install VistaOz it may sort
it out.

Anyway, first approach to Melbourne I went missed. Waaaaay too fast,
and forgot the gear! lol.
Second time in, I lost too much speed and stalled it making a rather
unceremonious plunge _into_ the runway, crashing and resetting the
flight. Seems the rust has well and truly set in, so much practice is
required to get back to my well oiled state of yesteryear.

Check wheels down, and clear to land..

Not good.. landings should almost instinctive by now. BTW did you try
WD-40? or some penetrating oil? Use your electric wire wheel* LOL

-G

* medium twisted-wire wheels attached to bench grinder work well.
better have some of those red shop rags around too.

Its all in the fs9.cfg that the blurries can be deblurred and acceptable fps
can be achieved. Here is mine for you to crib if you wish - the most
relevant parts are under the [TERRAIN] header.
Viz a vis :-

[TERRAIN]
TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=100.000000
TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000
TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000
TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=20
TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8
TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5
TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1
TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=8.500000 //5
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=8.500000 //9.5
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=1242456 //232 //1307992

The // forward slashes are like REM comments for other possible settings you
may like to try.

Is it fs9.cfg or fs2004.cfg????

I've got NO fs9.cfg and the fs2004.cfg

The fs2004.cfg contains only these lines:-

[APL]
CACHE_WAV_FILES=1

there is a terrain.cfg, suneffect.cfg, scenery.cfg, oldscenery.cfg,
display.cfg and devices.cfg

Whats going on???

Thanks. I think that's pretty much what I have set at, but not sure if
the extended terrain textures is ticked or not. Will check later.
Thanks.

Thanks. The blurries were actually more like that blurred look you get
when something is vibrating very fast, rather than just 'not clear'.
Get what I mean?
I'll try these adjustments too. Thanks.

Yeah, I know G. They should, but in my defence, I have yet to adjust
sensitivities, and dead zones or anything else that 'realistic-ifies'
the controls, so, that's my defence, and I'm stickin' to it! Wink

Ah, see, I have these special powers. I can survive most crashes by
just pretending they never happened. It's a very powerful.....power! Wink
Now, I must swear you to secrecy. If you tell a soul, I'll have to
delete your config file, and force you to run the sim with default
settings! Wink
