I had a power outage just when I was saving my main neighborhood and it
similarily disappeared. I had a backup, but it was two weeks old, so I
tried a resurrection. When I went into the neighborhood folders I found
a few .tmp files. I assumed the game had been saving to them when the
power went out, so I changed the extensions back to their originals.

The neighborhood loaded up okay then, but the house on the lot I'd been
saving at the time of the outage had vanished. The family was still
there, but one of the twin daughters had vanished. Where she used to be
in the families memories, there was a broken icon.

I decided to play it safe and go back to the two weeks old backup, but
if I hadn't had a backup I supposed I would have continued to play.
Worth a try if your neighborhood is toast. I would have been nervous of
problems later on in the game, however.

So, there is no hope to recover my sims?

Not that I know of, but I'm hardly an expert. Doubtful, though.

Wow IM hoping this helps me because my Pleasantview dissappeared too.
I dont know if you were talking about the Sims 1 or Sims 2 but I found
an extra neighborhood in another directory , Have no idea how it got
there but right now Im copying it to the other folder hoping itll work.
I guess thats what i get for putting all these unfinished hacks in my
system. Thanks for the input if this does work.
