BG2 SoA Underdark Where's the improsened Mage?

Help I have been tromping around in this Underdark for days. I cannot find the
cave with the imprisoned mage. Any help would be appreciated. This area is
very dark for my old computer screen.

Go to the merchants in the south and buy a scroll of Freedom. Cast the spell
and the mage will be released into the central part of the Underdark. You
won't need to see very well, as soon as the mage sees YOU, he'll run up to
thank you for freeing him.

BTW, there *is* a brightness control you can use to make it easier to see.
