I'm only level 31 so I know I won't get to the uber Outlands gear
anytime soon, but I'm wondering if it's worth trying to get some stuff
from BGs, or will I be able to find better gear soon enough from quests,
drops, or the AH.
Now, I don't intend to grind honor to the point of getting 1000s of
points, but I was thinking maybe I could get the Defilers Trinket, for
example, which seems useful. But then there's an upgrade to it at level
38, so should I wait? I guess with that attitude I'll always keep waiting...
Some of the gear (boots, belt) really dont' seem all that great,
although they are actually cheaper in terms of marks than the trinket.
Perhaps I should go for the trinket and just stop worrying about it.
It'll be nice to have one, I've never had one before.
Side note: I tried WSG for the first time this weekned. It's so BORING!
I felt like I was getting attacked by 4-5 Alliance at one time, all the
time. I did manage to get the flag once, but died on my way back. It
feels a little too close-packed to me, whereas AB is spread out so that
you can deal with just a few enemies in one area. I think I'll stick
with AB if I want more honor. >> Stay informed about: Are BG rewards worth it anymore? |

John
There were several folk who grinded the BG's very hard before TBC in
order to gain the grand marshall epic gear, i for 1 grinded for
selected rewards but never aimed to get the full pvp armor set or all
of the weapons (im alliance btw).
That said i did get the full blue plate armor set and the grand
marshall swiftblade (1h sword) and to be honest i have only just
replaced my final piece of armor at lvl 69 (legs).
i still use the 1h sword when tanking and i have still seen lvl 68-69
palladins with the Grand Marshall shoulders and 2h weapons.
In my opinion the BG's in wow are a relatively easy..but
boring..method of getting some decent gear that will enable you to
choose which qst rewards items you actually need and amass more gold a
bit quicker by vendoring stuff.
Yes you will get some good green items within a relatively short space
of time but even the blue BG stuff you can gain at 60 should remain
with you for a while yet.
My advice to you would be to assess the weapons and armor you are
likely to have at lvl 55-58 then compare it to BG reward items and
then compare that to the qst rewards for the first few lvls in OL.
i hope that kinda makes sense.

Some of the pre-50 BG rewards ARE worth it. Epic bracers at 40 with +
atk power and stats that are useful even doing level 50 quests.
Yes its slow going getting 20 or 30 bg tokens but if you enjoy the
battle then its fun.
WSG is weak, but it goes quick. AB is my favorite, actual strategy
involved. AV is long... great idea but just too long.
Haven't done eye of the storm yet but I'm sure its epic. >> Stay informed about: Are BG rewards worth it anymore? |

Easy answer: No, BG blue and purple rewards are no longer worth it,
unless you haven't purchased TBC and are unable to get the greens in
the Outlands, which are sadly much better than the level 60 epics.
However: I ran Arathi Basin all last weekend to get my level 48
Defiler's gear. It took two days, mostly because I accidentally bought
the level 28 belt the first time around (I was pissed). I'm gonna hold
off on the damage absorb trinket, but I'll probably be working on the
level 58 version next time around. I'll probably spend another two
days running WSG for that level 50 gear they offer. I think the level
40-50 gear that the BGs offer are great to have while you work through
the long 50-59 grind (not the hardest, but it takes awhile; the
hardest 10 level grind is 30-40 (you'll have to do some stuff in STV,
which is a pain in the ass without a mount). Any other BG gear before
that is a waste of time. >> Stay informed about: Are BG rewards worth it anymore? |

IMO, no, it's not worth it. No xp means you are pausing your
advancement. There is nothing notable in the sub-50 gear worth doing
that for.

Yup. AV is worse, IMO. AB is the BG I love, but not nearly as much as
when my mage was leveling by doing repeated AB runs. That was the best
sustained entertainment I have gotten from WoW. Now Blizzard has taken
it away. One more step closer to quitting the game for me.

I'd recommend trying to form a small group of friends to run BGs with as
a group. >> Stay informed about: Are BG rewards worth it anymore? |

yeah, good advice...i'm actually on a pve server, so perhaps the trinket
isn't as important, but it still seems very handy if when that extra add
comes in >> Stay informed about: Are BG rewards worth it anymore? |

The short answer is "No". My current "main" character played BGs at every
bracket until maxxing out rank for that bracket, and finally stopping at 60
with rank 10 when I got wind of rank being meaningless with the December
patch. I then spent my time tweaking all my pieces pre-TBC and getting the
GM weapon.
Yes, it was marginally beneficial overall to be well-outfitted for TBC,
however the effort it took was definitely not worth it in terms of time vs.
benefit. I enjoy PVP and BGs, but they are not the most effective method of
optimizing your equipment unless you're at level 70 buying level 70 PVP gear
and have no interest in raiding.

The equivalent BG Grand Marshal level 70 gear has tremendous stats even
though the gear is only Superior quality . All BG Grand Marshal gear carry
Item Levels of 115. By comparison the best arena epic gear and the best
Tier 5 epic raid gear have Item Levels of 120. The only problems with the
level 70 BG rewards are (1) there is no epic gear and (2) blizzard did not
redesign the appearance from level 60 BG gear. The one that disappoints me
the most is lack of redesign. >> Stay informed about: Are BG rewards worth it anymore? |

I was starting to feel it was a waste. Luckily I haven't spent time
grinding (I never intend to!), just a little bit to play AB because it's
kind of fun. I think I will try to get the trinket, just as a mini-goal
for myself. >> Stay informed about: Are BG rewards worth it anymore? |
