I've noticed after installing patch 1.22 that from time to time team
mates will show up with RED. Seems simular to a previous problem, but
a little different too.
Last night I spawned on a war is hell server and right away someone
TK'ed me. I spawned, and it happened again. I got the normal "Do you
wish to punish" message.
So I spawned somewhere else with low activity. I killed someone on the
other team and I got negative points.
I've seen this bug a number of times since 1.22. It seemed fixed in
the previous patches. So is this bug back, or is this just a server
side issue? >> Stay informed about: BF2 wrong colors on mates again? |

I've seen the red bug a few times, and in the interim changed computers
and video cards. Unless I am extremely unlucky it isn't the card.
I've been playing a lot of engineer lately and it shows up with mines.
I have witnessed three of my teammates run over my mines without
effect, and a fourth get blown up. Of course they punish me for it.
Karkand is great for mines if you are MEC- I will sacrifice a life to
get a mine far enough out to stop the armour at the edge of the city.
Two engineers can stop the armour dead if they co-operate and know
where to place them. Once the US penetrates the city, its realtively
easier to seal off the points on the other side of the river with mines
as well.
I wish mines were like arty - no TK. If you are foolish enough to stand
near an enemy vehicle as it runs over your teams mines (you get warning
that the mines are there don't forget) then you deserve to die.

Been playing BF2 for 7 months now and never seen this error at all.
Maqybe it's related to the graphics card? Odd, but I know no better.

It's the same bug as before. EA has not managed to fix it.
It happens more when a player (the red one) has been hopping sides a lot. >> Stay informed about: BF2 wrong colors on mates again? |

According to the patch info, mines were not supposed to blow up
friendlies. And for the most part that has been true. But I watched
with my own eyes as an APC I had been fixing backed up and ran over a
mine that I laid and blew himself up. He punished me. In the same game
I ran over my own mines without incident. I think this may be related
to the red bug but I could be wrong.

I thought the TK's were removed for mines with the last patch? never seen a
friendly blown up by mines since??
BTW noticed sometimes when laying mines some don't have the red marker, not
to me anyway.

If I remember correctly, it is now a server setting as to have mines &
claymores set off by friendlies. It seems most of the servers I've
played on are that way. It does however make it really exciting when I
lay out a bunch of mine sonly to discover the server I'm on is not one
of those...and then I get the inevitable punish for a TK.
I do wish there was a way to see which way a server is set for
mines/claymores killing friendlies (this is separate from the global
"friendly fire" setting that shows up on the map loading screen). >> Stay informed about: BF2 wrong colors on mates again? |

This is why one should be slow to punish.
I almost -never- punish anymore. There is almost always some explanation
for a TK, and when there isn't everyone figures it out pretty quickly.

You said it all:

near an enemy vehicle as it runs over your teams mines (you get warning
that the mines are there don't forget) then you deserve to die.
-------------------
I agree completely. Only noobs punish when they have stupidly run over a
friendly mine.

Same here, except for the jet jockeys who bomb blindly
I don't know how many times I've been about 3 seconds away from getting
a flag neutral and some idiot decides to bomb the flag. They never look
at the mini map or say sorry so its an immediate punish. Stuff em

That's about the only time I punish also. Because I don't think they care
if you're there or not so I consider it deliberate. >> Stay informed about: BF2 wrong colors on mates again? |

I play on a server which has some kind of reporting tool for TKs, which is
pretty nice. They should kick/ban everyone who always punishes. The
message will come up and say something like player1 chose to forvive
player2 for TK Player1 has forgiven 4/5 times
