Before using the damn card, I want to know if it's how I think it'll
work...
Aye
Cardtype: Master
Master: trifle.
Put this card on a Laibon. This Laibon may tap this card to cancel a
Frenzy card played on him or her as it is played. This Laibon may burn
a blood and tap three of his or her Aye to be able to play reaction
cards and attempt to block as if untapped for the current action. If
this Laibon burns a minion, equipment, or location in play, he or she
burns one Aye. Burn this card if this Laibon has more Orun and Aye than
his or her capacity
Could I burn a blood, and not tap 3 aye? or just tap 3 aye and not
burn a blood? or do I have to do both. I know there will be no effect
unless I do both.
Just making sure if it would read may burn a blood, and may tap 3 ayes.
That's the way I would read it. I used the example of a wake and
babble to justify my interpretation of it. Wake reads, This reacting
vampire can play reaction cards and attempt to block as though untapped
until the current action is concluded. Doesn't have to do both, can do
1 or the other. Babble doesn't require to have the chosen equipment in
play to burn it. But I'm just making sure...
(Deck idea is a restricted vitae hunt deck, so I need to HAVE TO hunt
so I can gain 4+ blood from the source vampire. Excellent thirst, clan
cards that increase hunts, and earth feeder hunt action. Course master
cards that increase hunting. Minion taps-a-plenty of course ) >> Stay informed about: Aye question... |

I do not believe that this is going to work the way you want. Aye
states specifically "may burn a blood AND tap three ....Aye". its the
cost for the effect. Wake offers you a choice after you have played it,
one, the other or both. When Bauble (not Babble) is burned it will also
burn the chosen equipment, if the chosen equipment is not there to burn
then that effect fizzles. Why bother with Aye anyway? Just use more
Taps, wouldn't you rather have that blood (even if it's only one) in
your pool instead of just burnt? >> Stay informed about: Aye question... |

Correct. The key to the distinction lies in the "to". Aye allows you to
<do X> "to be able to play reaction cards..."
So the X is the cost of that effect. And you cannot attempt to use that
effect if you cannot pay the cost.
Wake grants an effect. Bauble allows an effect. Neither of those
effects is the cost of any other effect (no "to"). >> Stay informed about: Aye question... |
