Can't really say, other than random arcade games I haven't played any
driving video games (other than FPS games with vehicles, I guess). AA
has comic book/action movie physics. Your vehicle only takes damage
from enemy fire, not from collisions with obstacles or falls. I had a
bit of fun jumping off high points and sailing down long distances, but
in the end I found the comic book nature of the game unsatisfying.
The basic vehicle set up is with an auto-targetting turret on top and a
forward weapon aimed by the driver (your starting car only has the
turret, the forward weapon is acquired later). Using a keyboard to
control the car results in choppy and clumsy driving, even with the
additional soft turn keys. This may be why cars don't take damage from
hitting obstacles, it happens way too often.
I didn't play enough to get into the crafting aspect of the game.
