Archived from groups: alt>games>operation-flashpoint (more info?)

I'm based in the UK & have just bought the German Version of ArmA &
installed the 1.01 Patch & Language Patch 0.6.

Other than in the training missions, the frame rate I'm getting is very very
poor, about 1fps. I've got all the settings on minimum. The sound is also
poor.

My Spec is:
Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo T
Intel P4 HT 3.4
512mb RAM
200GB HDD (Half used)
G-Force FX 5500 128mb (running NVidia Drivers 93.71)
WinXP Home SP2

I've just ordered another 512mb DDR 400 RAM (I'll probably get Vista), but
don't want to waste money on any unnecessary hardware as OFP (and hopefully
ArmA) is/are the only game(s) I play.

Does Patch 1.01 correct the problem that "Morphicon" have announced with the
German version, to do with Securom?

"As already known there's a performance problem with the German version. We
were able to narrow the problem down and are working on a hotfix at full
speed. As soon as it is ready we will release it."

Any ideas?

Cheers
Peter

As far as I know it does!

Regarding your computer spec I think it's your FX 5500 holding you
back most! I would recommend a nvidia 6800 or above with at least
256 MB VRAM. The 6xxx series should be pretty cheap now but if you
have some more money to burn go for the 7xxx series.

Try playing it at 800 x 600 , doesn't look too bad.

I had it down to 640 x 480 and it was still unplayable. Anyway, I rooted out
an old ATI Radeon 9550 256mb from my old faulty PC and everything seems to
work well now. Considering the FX5500 is 256mb not 128mb as I thought, I've
come to the conclusion it wasn't working properly.

I now have acceptable frame rates at 800 x 600 although the settings are on
Low.

My only problem now is that I keep getting shot Smile
