Would a new Apple be able to run the flight
sims currently being marketed?

In addition to Windows based applications running in an emulator;

There's Flight Gear
http://www.flightgear.org/hardwarereq.html

Versions for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Requires OpenGL video
acceleration.

Screen shots look pretty good:

I hear you may need to make a few edits in some configuration files for
things like controller assignments.

Which new flight sims? I don't see any. If you want to run PC games on a MAC
then get bootcamp and install XP.

Are you talking about bootcamp? Bootcamp is not an emulator. It's a boot
loader for XP and OSX on Mac computers. Mac computers use the same hardware
as PC's now so no emulation needed. Only difference is that Mac's don't use
BIOS like a PC does. I don't own a Mac but know this from reading stuff on
the internet.

Curious question. Why would someone buy a Mac and then add stuff to it
so they can run PC software? Why not just buy a PC?

Because they want to run a mix of Mac and PC software?

I like to use a Mac whenever possible, but all the software I need (for
example some propriety work stuff) is not available for Mac OS.

I understand that a Mac has high end software for graphics, the kind
you see in movies. Disney etc. But 99% of the regular people don't use
that stuff. What software you talking about that a PC doesn't have for
most people, that can't be found for the PC?
For example: Mac may have a nice flight sim but the PC has them too.
Not the same name - but the differences are so slight.

I used to use FlightGear... and it was horrible. No change of views and you can't tell where you're going. FlightGear is a waste of time.
