So, i was reading about the disappearing pork chops a day or so ago in
another thread.. now i have a problem.
I am just running on the stuff from the game.. no downloads or hacks.
Got my Sim up to maximum cooking skills. Was very excited about having
him make a turkey.. and lo and behold... no turkey option. I could have
*sworn* i had made a turkey once way back when it was just Sims 2 with
no exp. I have all exp's now.. and i guess the turkey option went away?
Also.. i thought for sure i had once made Lobster Thermidor.. but now
that option is gone too. There are sooooooo many bugs that came with
OFB.. i am sort of guessing that maybe this one came with it also.
Aside from some of the objects and walls and such.. i am seriously
regretting putting OFB on my game. It has screwed it up in SO many ways
now.
So.. does anyone with all the exp's still have the turkey/lobster
option? or is it just me maybe? I'm sick of pork chops and salmon! My
Sims want turkey! <g>
Cheers,

Really? Wow! Then it is just that my game is really screwed since OFB.
Every day i discover a new bug and i am seriously pissed off at this
exp! LOL
Surely it isnt because my Sim is a guy. This game has never had that
sort of discrimination about gender and such of any sort at all.
Hmmmmm.. I suppose maybe there is a pacth for OFB on the Sims site
perhaps? I've never messed with patches and really don't want to start
now. But this exp has countless glitches on top of it freezing up on me
on a regular basis. Not enough not to enjoy the game mind you.. just
enough to make it annoying.
(Grumble) i want my turkey back in my game! Feh!

Noooooo! i dont like playing with all the glitches LOL You are
absolutely right on, Jeanie.
I have just never at all messed with patches.. but truly i may start
now. The bugs i am finding are piling up and i miss my regular game
play. I was thinking i would just wait for the next exp- but i may take
your advice and get the patch for this one. I've just never done it
before and i always hesitate before doing something new that i have no
clue about. Why the hell don't they just make a game that works the way
it's supposed to without having to "patch" it up i will never know- but
that has always been a point of discontent with Maxis in here frankly.
I'm sure if i have any questions about the patch i will ask in here,
natch! Thanks Jeanie.

Every time you install a new expansion pack, you are installing the
patch for the old one along with it. Why wait until the next one comes
out? Unless you *like* playing with all the glitches, why not just go
to the sims2 website and download the OFB patch? I mean, I can
understand not wanting to play with hacks and mods, but the patches are
kind of mandatory if you want to play at all, seems to me.

They ant to get it out as soon as possible, and I suppose there's things
that don't show up when the testers are testing that do when us "normal"
people get it.
Me, I haven't bought a single EP until the patch was already out.

um... which stove are you using? and which fridge? because the stove
which is only a range (it only has a cooktop and no oven), won't allow
you to make either lobster or turkey.

Well, all you need is a little encouragement. LOL Honestly, though,
I've never had any trouble with a patch. Just go get it and install it.
It should go like a breeze.

Well, EA does tend to rush things out but most games are patched these days.
I have one that's been patched 67 times since it was released. The game is
quite old now, I should add. The patches didn't necessarily correct
problems all the time - the makers have added quite a lot of extra content,
gameplay and flexibility to the build feature via the patches (which
contrasts markedly with The Sims where those things get added in expansions
and cheapo 'fun' packs which they make you pay for - a whole other issue).
Anyway, it's not at all unusual to patch a game.
However, the OP's original question reminded me there was a bug with (some)
sims getting to the top of the cooking skill in which some of the cooking
options disappeared. I thought that had been dealt with in a patch but
maybe not.
Also, not all stoves cook all the options - you need an oven for both
lobster thermidor and turkey.
Best wishes

Well.. it is one of the nicer more expensive stoves and same with the
fridge. AFAIK the stove does have an oven. I will check that.. if i'm
wrong i'm going to feel like a dumbass though LOL It is one of the
shiny ones that looks like it belongs in a restaurant.
If that is not the case.. i will just go mess with the patch and ask
you lovely folks in here if i need any help with that.

True enough i suppose. Sims is the only game i play on the pc.. so i
don't have any experience with that. Everything else i play is on PS2.

I'm gonna go check that in a bit and hope i didn't cry wolf too soon
<g>. My mind automatically went for the "bug" option because OFB is
FULL of them.

Not sure which exp. it came from because i installed University and
Nightlife on the same day one after the other. It is shiny sliver with
like some brown trim around the sides that also comes with black trim
or silver i think. Looks like an industrial type of stove.
I will fire my game up here in a bit and look more closely at it. Just
take several minutes to get to the neighborhood screen.. then downtown
Veronaville.. then for the house to load yaddah yaddah. So ill mess
with it after lunch perhaps.

Well- i'll be damned! That is *exactly* what is was and i *am* a
dumbass! LOL
But hey- the stove looked like it had an oven on it.. and it is the
only one that matches my kitchen's decor in that house.. but sure
enough.. it had no oven! Now i have to put one in there that looks like
nothing else in this particular kitchen and just live with it. Like i
said.. my first reaction was that is was a bug due to the amount of
them.
Thank you all for your input.. and i will go smack myself on the head
now and go have a V-8.
