Anyone remember the old Anagram (sp) comics?
They were a collaberation of DC/Marvel and were composits of characters
from each publisher.
My favorite was Super Soldier, a combination of Superman and Captain
America.
But there were also
Dark Claw: Batman/Wolverine
Green Armor: Ironman/Green Lantern
Dr. Strange Fate: Dr. Strange/Dr. Fate (golly, how clever)
Spider Boy: Spiderman/Superboy (err post-Doomsday version)
I was was making up more of my own:
Nemisis: Wonderwoman/Electra (better than ElectraWoman)
Thundergod: Captain Marvel/Thor
Night Devil: Nightwing/Dare Devil >> Stay informed about: Anagram Comics |

It was Amalgam Comics.
For me, I loved Spider-boy. Especially when Insect Queen finally
showed up (I did not see it coming but it was so perfect!) And no, I
am not going to spoil it. Go find the book yourself, and don't read
ahead, read the entire issue so you can enjoy it properly.

You left out the most "munchkiny" part of Dr. Strangefate. There he
is, all of the powers and toys associated with Dr. Fate and Dr.
Strange - and then on the last page he pulls off the Helmet of Nabu
and you find out he's Charles Xavier.

DoomBird: Penguin/Dr. Doom
Lexopus: Lex Luthor/Dr. Octopus
The Big Kahuna: Lobo/Silver Surfer
(tho a mental picture of that would be little short of ridicoulus) >> Stay informed about: Anagram Comics |

IIRC some of these were already claimed in Amalgam too.
Dr Doomsday: Dr Doom/Doomsday, with Doomsdays power and Dr Dooms
inteligence and Machiavelein world domination scheming were actualy a
scary combination.
The Green Skull: Lex Luthor/Red Skull since they'd fused Cap and
superman they fused there nemeses too.
Lobo the Duck: Lobo/Howard the Duck, I think they did this one with
tounge firmly in cheek.
I don't recall seing Amalgam treatments of Penquin, Doc Ock or Silver
Surfer however. >> Stay informed about: Anagram Comics |

Well, they're both rather silly characters...

Well Fairly Odd-Parents did a Doc Ock/Dr Strange combo, and a Silver
Surfer/Penquin would be too damn silly. (A silver penquin flying thru space
oh a sheet of ice, I mean really). >> Stay informed about: Anagram Comics |

Hard to imagine who you could combine him with and not end up with
something silly because he's something silly. There's a reason why he
ended up as just being a fence. Combine him with the Kingpin to make
Emperor Penguin? With Blizzard to make Captain Antartica?

Amalgam, by the way.
I wanted to see Lois the Model, with her photographer Clicker Olsen, her
boss Perry Hanover, and her red-haired rival Chili Lang.
Brother Cage, Geek for Hire
Sugar and Cloke
Irving "Pa" Hunkel, the Forbush Tornado
And the Biz-Hydra Code:
Hail Biz-Hydra ! Immoral Biz-Hydra! Us am never be destroyed!
Cut off a limb, and us do opposite of all earthly things!
Us hate brightest day! Us love darkest night!
With great power am come great responsibility, for criminals am a
cowardly, superstitious lot!
Is big crime to serve any but the master on Biz-Hydra World!
Hail Biz-Hydra !
Face it, Tiger -- us am just hit jackpot!

Apparently the best amalgrams are those with the base concepts are
completely different. For instance, combining Batman and Daredevil won't
work very well becaue both characters are too similar. But a Flash/Daredevil
combination, (Speeddemon?), would be very interesting.
Tho a blind speedster would be a little...strange.
Likewise a Green Arrow/Hawkeye won't work, but a Green
Arrow/Nightcrawler,("Assasin")?, would have possibilities. >> Stay informed about: Anagram Comics |
