Don't bet on it. You have no idea how many people are absolutely lousy
at searches. Not only that, but once they do a google search they find
themselves incapable of filtering out the crud.
Even if they get to Wikipedia just because it happens to be the first
page that pops up because there's no add above it, they might still not
be able to understand it. Or even trust it, they'd rather get their info
from a trusted source. Like the horoscopes.

That's true actually. And for many people, Google *is* the internet. When for instance they want to visit
http://www.mona.nl/toetjesnieuws.asp?menuid=item5 they enter all of that in Google. And they search
for "images of beavers" rather than clicking the Images link on Google.
On a sidenote, I've actually started hating Google Image Search, because more often then not when you
open the page containing the found image in a new tab, you get the yearly archive of some or the other
blog with hundreds of photos and videos. This takes way too long to load and is a serious attack on my
system memory.

I wish I could dispute that. The times people told me "to go to that
website, type X into Google and it's the first link". Only thing is: in
different countries, different websites end up on top...
I've done the whole link into Google too. But only to see if they had
the site in their cache, since the website was down...

It's a subtle message from the blogosphere telling you to "Upgrade ur
systm u %*&$ moron." At least, that's the way they speak on blog comments.

Which is actually really annoying. I don't want to see a Polish Google when I'm there.

My computer has 512 MB of RAM!! How can that possibly not be enough to visit websites? It's simply
wrong to create one single page with so many photos and videos on it that the total download size
exceeds 100 MB.

That's going to be hard. Those Poles Google a lot.

Hmmm, send a link of such a page to someone that has internet on a cell
phone. Or someone who has a download cap, like most Belgians have.
Between Microsoft upgrades, video drivers and one such page they'll be
out of their alloted 400MB's a month in no time.

I do, but I actually know people that do not know how to turn their TV
on once someone turns it off...

I like how if you type "Aglami" into Google, the first thing it says is
"Did you mean: Goalamo"... what the hell is a Goalamo? And why would I
have meant that?
