So I made the switch to almost entirely ace2 addons now, to minimize the
headache of updating them. Got things setup the way I like, with only one
mod that's leaving a strange bar across the middle of my screen...just need
to turn things off one by one to see which one it is.
Anyhow, I used to use CT Buffmod as I really liked the way it displayed my
buffs on myself. What is a good Ace2 addon that displays buffs in a
similarly good fashion?
I tried Buffalo from the wowace sight, I don't think I could have written a
WORSE buff mod if I tried...do I really want to see all forty-eight buff
slots blocking out half my screen and all sixteen debuff slots on the other
half, when I don't *have* any buffs/debuffs on me?!? Buffalo is, IMHO,
definately a candidate for "stupidest mod ever" award.
So...only to find out which silly mod has put that bar across the middle of
my screen. It's not click-draggable, it's not right-click-draggable, not
right-clickable, clicking on it does nothing, it's just plain *there* as an
annoyance in the middle of the screen.
Why do so many mod writers default their mods to appear in the centre of the
screen, and be undraggable, unclickable, no right-click menu, nothing...you
gotta first figure out the name of what mod in the pack is doing it, and
then figure out the command line syntax to get rid of it or move it to
specific x,y co-ordinates. Whatever this bar is, when I figure it out, that
mod is going out the window just due to how much it has annoyed me so far! >> Stay informed about: Ace addons - what's a good buff mod? |

That looks like exactly what I want. Thanks! Now just to figure out which
silly mod is putting that bar in the middle of my screen, get rid of that
and I'm set!
Also, I found a nice trick for the customization of a UI across multiple
toons. Rather than have to set the same preferences over and over for each
toon, even though some individual mods have a feature to load settings from
another toon, I instead do it all in one step. I go into my WoW folder, then
into WTF\Account\Realmname\ For the one character I've configured, usually
a bank alt so my guildies don't say "WTF" to me logging on and off
repeatedly for an hour, I then copy that toon's named folder and hit
'paste'. Rename the "copy of bankalt" folder to the other toon's name, ie
"maintoon". If "maintoon" already existed, I delete it.
Presto! I've now got all the exact same settings on all my toons. Can even
copy to other realms, just by putting in the Realmname in the path. Only
tweak needed then is the clock - needs a different offset for different
server timezones. >> Stay informed about: Ace addons - what's a good buff mod? |

I tried it last night, and it works just fine. Now to figure out how to
change the buff timers shown to be a bit more precise...they're in blizz
default mode still, which means my 'battle shout' shows as 2min all the way
until it drops to 59s. I'd much rather see "1m35s", like my ct buff mod was
capable of showing. >> Stay informed about: Ace addons - what's a good buff mod? |

Does it look like an experience bar? If so it could be Bartender3.
Use the Fubar addon to unlock the bars so they all go green and some
more will appear in red. Then click on the bar so that it goes red
and then lock the bars again and it'll have gone.
If it's not an experience bar then I have no idea.

It is very configurable. I use it and it is invisible if I have no
buffs or debuffs.

I use a similar trick to copy my chat window configurations to new
characters - just copy a few files over and it saves a lot of messing
around.
If you are using all Ace2 mods then they have profiles built in so
most of them should have been configured the same anyway. There are a
few that don't seem to use this feature though - Scrolling Combat Text
for one.

Yeah, ElkBuffBars (get the one with the 's') works like CT_BuffMod,
but better. It doesn't screw up my temporary weapon buffs, or randomly
change the progress bar when I change zones, like BuffMod did. It's
also a lot more configurable, and looks consistent with the other Ace2
mods.
I'm down to just CT_MailMod out of the CT pack. I used to use all of
them.

Strange, if I do /sct menu there is a "profile" tab which lets me do exactly
that, though not in the typical ace manner...
Cheers

Yeah, its odd isn't it? The sct profile system doesn't seem to allow
many characters to use one profile though. It just seems to allow
profiles to be copied. I think that it must be because SCT wasn't
initially an Ace mod so maybe he wanted to maintain the old way of
doing things. (I don't know that for sure as I never used SCT when it
wasn't Ace)

ElkBuffBar is working good more me too. But i guess soon or later I will
install the new one with 's'

Try Postman and Postal ... no mass mail option yet ... but you can write
name in sendto field and then just ALT+ click items to send them to one
person in no time.
Anyway ... i deleted all CT mods long time ago.
