I'm working on a very clean original Asteroids game. I have a newly
rebuilt working board set, rebuilt AR board, and New BIG Blue on the
power block. When I power it on all I get is a continuous beeping and
Player 1 and 2 are solid on. When I put it in Test mode Player 1 and 2
are still solid on but no beeping or anything else. The monitor is
disconnected now (for testing) but when it is plugged in all I get on
the screen is a single pixel in the upper right hand corner on the
screen. I have checked all of my connections and they all appear to be
good so at this point I'm at a loss.. Any suggestions or specific
places I should look over again? Any help is very much appreciated...
Thanks....

-Dave

Hi Dave,

I'm assuming you've checked the voltages from you power block and from
your AR board? If you have, that sounds like a game board problem.
Did you just have it fixed? -Malcolm

How long was the board sitting after it came back from being fixed?
If it was a while, you might try reseating the chips on the board.
Atari boards are notorious for bad sockets that corrode and cause
connection problems with the ROMs. One other possible solution would
be getting a high score save kid from Mikesarcade.com. It replaces
all the ROMs with a single one, so you only have to worry about one
socket. It also saves your scores when you turn it off. -Malcolm

Thanks for the suggestion, if this were my personal game I would go
with the high score kit. The board was just re worked but only sat for
about a week (in the box) before I got around to putting it in the
game. I tried to figure it out again but still no luck so since I
don't have another cab to test it in I'll just send it back and have
it check out again.
