I enjoy landing at Baltimore-Washington Int (KBWI) because you
can "see" and listen to other aircraft. Makes it more realistic.
Is there any GOOD, EASY, software available that would replicate the
scenario of landing at KBWI Int?
Another airport I enjoy landing at is the Schiphol Airport in the
Netherlands. World's busiest airport--but not a single aircraft to
be seen taxing, taking off, or landing at the airport!
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you >> Stay informed about: AI Aircraft |

Hmm, I presume you use FS9 and the default EHAM (Schiphol), then the first
obvious question is, have you switched on AI traffic.? The slider is on one
of the tabs of the display settings I believe. When you find it then slide
it to 70% or more and prepare to go around on landing... )
If you want realistic traffic however go for one of the options of the other

Schipol is the world's 9th busiest airport in terms of total passengers and
20th in terms of aircraft movements. The world's busiest airport is
Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson both in terms of passengers and aircraft
movements. Chicago O'Hare is second in both categories.
Of course we have to remember that most US airports carry the tag
"International" to their name but the bulk of their traffic is domestic. The
busiest *international* airport in the world in terms of passenger numbers
is London Heathrow and third in terms of aircraft movements. Putting the
"international" aspect to one side puts Heathrow at 3rd and 17th
respectively.
Source? The figures for 2005 released by the Airports Council International.

Link to these two websites and download all of their AI packages:
http://www.world-of-ai.com/
http://www.projectai.com/packages/installers.php
in less than 1 hour all your airports will be plenty of good and relistic AI
traffic.

Jan, download and run a free download titled AISmooth while flying with
FS9. It will better manage the AI in the background, causing much less
go-around calls. It will not eliminate them all together but it does work
well.

Thank you for trying to help me on this subject.
Looked at all the settings. I did not find the
"AI traffic switch" you spoke of. Yes, I have FS9.
Have you another idea maybe? Again, Thanks!!

Press Alt key to bring up the menu. Click on Options>Settings>Traffic.
Heavy AI traffic really can degrade your frame rates so go 100% and see what
you get then back off to a lower percentage if the rates fall to an
unacceptable level.

On the opening screen on the left side click on settings and then there's
button 'Traffic'. Some have deactivated the opening menu screen, if this is
the case do as Danny suggested. Click it and there you find options to
include commercial (e.g. airlines) and general (e.g. private) aircraft
routes and the slider for traffic density in procents. If that one is on
zero, there's no traffic<g>.
Hope this helped...

Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look at it. BTW going around is obviously
also highly dependant on the time of day you're planning your arrival<g>.
This and other AI threads have really wett my appetite, so I started to
install some european airlines from ProjectAI and made a short hop from
Munich to Frankfurt, expecting half and half to go around on arrival
(Traffic slider at 80%), but although the skies where really crowded and the
radio was almost a constant chatter landing went smooth and direct. Behind
me a Lufthansa Airbus however was number four for landing, well, that's
crowded isn't it... )

I just noticed the link is to version 1.11a. I checked the version I have
loaded and it is version 1.2. I doubt there is much difference but if you
begin to search for the program you may want to check at AVSIM for the
latest version. The link I posted was the first I came across and did not
check to see if it linked to the latest version.

No problem, your link went to a page on SimRadar where version 1.12 resided,
or is 1.2 not a typo and is there even a newer one.<g>
