Hi,
The last Cyberstratège magazine contains an interview with Pocus. In
this he tells a bit about the future plans of AGEod. Here's the
summary :
Birth of America 2.0 - I had this noted down as an expansion pack and
it looks that way too : map is doubled and will cover all the US wars
of the first 75 years - so I'm guessing they'll cover the war of Texan
independence besides the 1812 war too. Why else double the map ?
Vainglory of Nations (Victorian age) was previously announced - this
game will have diplomacy, available in 2009.
Then there's a mysterious sentence about a game getting released this
year which will please the Europeans. They already did Napoleon, so
they're either going forward in time (Crimea, Prussian-Austrian War,
Franco-Prussian war) or backward in time which could be anything given
the flexibility of their engine.
It's pure and utter speculation on my part here but an ideal first
outing of the diplomacy module could be the first European-wide war,
also known as the 30 Years War. The other wars simply don't contain
enough "meat" for this engine and they already have the map of Europe,
so it's a natural choice for the first outing of a diplomatic module.

My understanding from hints at the forum is that this is planned - but
it was supposed to be after
Vainglory of Nations. Plans could have changed, but I doubt it : they
can hardly ask their Napoleonic customers to poney up the money for a
2.0 version right now. Cries of "paying for a patch" would be heard
all over the place.

I'd throw in my guess but since I know the answer it wouldn't be much
fun. :p

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Afaik VGN should be the
first outing of a game with the diplomatic module.

Hi all,
Thank you for your interest... )
So here is some breaking news for the War-Historical Newsgroup:
AGEod will publish TWO new games in the next few weeks!!
The first one is a pure reflexion game. Quite adictive I must say,
spent several hours with it betwen two ACW compaigns.
The second one is a History boardgame dealing with one of the most
complex conflict of the European history with an awesome amount of
historical researches.
These games have been developed by two new teams sharing all of our
gaming values (we tried to clone Pocus but we failed). They offer a
new gaming experience but the emphasis on quality is the same.
Tease, tease, tease...
Birth of America 2 will be the next "traditional" AGEod game. ETA 4
monthes.
Happy new year!

What I'm hoping for is "Napoleonic Campaigns 2.0" with the diplomatic
module - which could be a good choice after the new unannounced game. >> Stay informed about: AGEod_-_Cyberstratège_interview_with_Pocus |

Oh cool - 100 yrs war. I wonder if non-francophones can puzzle it out?
Barbara Tuchman's "A Distant Mirror" is a nice intro to the period -
sniffed at by academic historians, I would guess, but a great
narrative. >> Stay informed about: AGEod_-_Cyberstratège_interview_with_Pocus |

There's going to be an English version of this game. The demo at the
moment is French only AFAIK.
Don't expect a totally historic wargame - it's a conversion of a
boardgame, so more a strategy game against a historical backdrop, more
historical than A&A or Risk for sure, but not hardcore wargame
material.

Err... no. When I did the interview, I was not aware of the MontJoie
release. Its another game, with the AGE Engine, made by Team B after
WIA (War in America, aka BOA2) is done.
Team B: Hok & Celtic (with a bit of Team A, aka we the Philippe). Hok
(Florent Quesnel) and Celtic (Yoann Brosseau) are two persons we
recruited past year.
So there is still a cat moving into the bag, for 2008.
To summarize:
AGEOD as a publisher: Montjoie and another game in 2008
Team A: VGN, not sure it will be there in december though...
Team B: WIA and another game.
