I'm trying to track down a series of books. They were published in the
eighties, in English. They were quite large (around letter / A4 size)
and hardback, with each open double page a full colour print, usually
including a visual puzzle of some kind. The books followed the "Choose
your own adventure" format, where possible solutions to a puzzle would
tell you which page to turn to. I can't track these down anywhere and
have no idea of the title, but the illustrations are very vivid and
colourful! Any and all help appreciated.

The only thing that comes to mind is the Usborne Puzzle Adventure books,
which were not A4/letter sized and always had you simply turn to the
next page.

Where were these books published? Or, at least, where were you when you
got them?

Hi,

I remember the Usborne Puzzle Adventure books - like the lost temple,
and the village in the mists - but it's not them! There were no people
in the books, instead they were first person, and around 40 pages long
in total. I was in the UK when I had these books, which would've been
around 1988 - 1992. Almost all the puzzles were entirely visual, with
one to each page, and the pages had no white margin. One had a
scenario of crashing on an alien planet, and towards the end there was
a double plate of a vat with a brain inside (of course). Coming to
think of it, different solutions may not have led to different pages -
the books may well be linear.
