I've just about finished painting "Space Marine Sergeant 2" from the 200
catalogue. The chap has what looks like a raise power fist.
What would be the typical weapon for the right arm? Or what would be a
leagl weapon for the right arm in as many versions of the game as possible

A Loyalist Marine with a Power Fist would be a Veteran Sgt.
Typically, a Bolt or Plasma Pistol is their ranged loadout.

Many new sculpts look just like Greenstuffed old sculpts.
So, current holster dimensions could be left-over from RT -
Remember, RT gear was from the Dork Age of Technology.
(The Age of Apostasy was when WD still advertised D&D.)
The reverse bullpup Boltgun was a personal fave:
Its bolt magazine was *forward* of the forearm!
The bayonet was called a Combat Accessory!
That gun was easily half the width it is today.
The Scout BP was a *tiny* featureless blob.
I was a bitz packrat, and even I threw them away.
Web gear like canteens and holsters still look undersize.
And don't get me started on those RT-era Opera Glasses . . .
After RT, the sculptors obsessed with, erm, Heroic Proportions.
(And Dark Angels turned green. Coincidence?)
Remember those Marine models wielding an unsheathed sword?
The ones with the scabbard that still had a sword in it?
That's what I always wondered about.

Thanks dude. I always wonder what the hell is meant to be in the holster
modeled on most marines, given that it's smaller than all the hand held
pistols.
Given the size of the bolt pistol and bolter it must be the 40K version of
a lady's purse pistol.

Chaos. They spread the love for the gods through the universe,
destroying the infidels. Kind of like Catholics, but with cooler wargear.
