They also tend to have the least respect for imperial authority of any
loyalist chapter. They actually protect civilians and are in return
beloved by the imperial masses. In addition, BA aren't necessarilly
an assault based chapter (though in 3rd edition they were played as
such), they're a standard codex chapter that has rage issues. Their
genetic mutation (which also allows them to live 1000+ years) induces
them to become focused on coming to grips with the enemy and
destroying them. In short: they are often used as a CC army because
they're better at HtH then UM or DA.
In terms of Gameplay, the 3rd edition codex gave the whole army
furious charge for free, a randomly sized death company, and other fun
toys. The current book brings them more into a pure codex form, with
an emphasis on jump pack troops.
there are, after all, 4 distinct MEQ armies that are more HtH: chaos,
Wolves, BA, and Templars. they've managed to seperate them into sort
of forced distinctions: BT are a horde and/or Landraider based force,
Wolves have true grit, tons of fists, and extra HQ, BA are the Jump
Pack guys, and Chaos get cult troops.
