i dunno. the game was fun but now everything just seems to be losing thier
original flair. i mean, 3rd edition made it anime, then 4th edition made it
feel a bit like it should, darker, more historic, and now with the new
codexes it seems they keep *some* of the fluff, ignore other fluff, and try
to make an army that people want to play that inherently lacks any real
character other than being a bunch of rules slapped down hurridly to play
with. >> Stay informed about: [40K] 13th Company Wulfen...chasing their own tails? |

Or, in other words, GW is selling out the game and background in order
to sell figures. Unfortunately, since they stated their primary goal
is to sell figures, this isn't a surprise. I understand how hard it
can be to deal with the shifting background. I'll whip out an old bit
of fluff and someone who doesn't like it will try to tell me it's no
longer valid because it's not specifically stated in the new codex.
For example, one player insists Khaela Mensha Khaine is NOT Khorne,
but aside from numerous Warhammer sources stating it, the original
Eldar army list in the RT Compendium said Khaine was part of Khorne,
which is why Khorne hates Slaanesh so much. But it's no longer
printed, so despite the Dark Elves running around with Khorne symbols,
he tries to claim it's not relevant any more.
On the other hand, I am happy with one of the changes that appears to
be happening for 5th edition: Only Troops are scoring units. That'll
encourage more troops and less use of big models (which GW pushed
because they're more expensive). Some of the new rules in the leaked
version seem a little strange, but would make for some quick gameplay
anyway.

well, since the figures are primarily sold by background for me this means a
lack of interest on my part and thus a lack of money leaving my hand. >> Stay informed about: [40K] 13th Company Wulfen...chasing their own tails? |

Yeah, they seem to think we only care about how powerful a model is in
the game, not how awesome its background is.

What are they up to now? I haven't gotten one in ten years, except in
trades with other people (they keep turning up in lots of figures,
whether it be Marines, Necromunda, or even Tau).

last i looked? 9.99 or so for a piece of pewter, you can get a plister pack
for less cant you? used to be blister packs were 5.99. kind of funny how a
metal imperial guard squad was less expensive then than plastic one is now. >> Stay informed about: [40K] 13th Company Wulfen...chasing their own tails? |

The old $12 packs with like five Striking Scorpions were awesome. But
I think those were still lead. It seems to be a time-honored practice
for GW to base price upon in-game price. See the ridiculously
overpriced Gorbad for a good example.

I dunno, that does not always hold through. Is it something like DE Warp
Hounds that work out as the most expensive per point unit? Something
like 12 or 13 euro for 2 4 point models.
I think it's probably more of a time-honored practice to see how much
faster than inflation they can go and still have people buy their minis. >> Stay informed about: [40K] 13th Company Wulfen...chasing their own tails? |

That could be, yeah. And they wonder why no one plays Dark Eldar...
well, I'd guess that being more expensive than Orks, having less
background than Necrons, and looking goofier than Tau might have
something to do with it.

they still have those, except that now everyone is that way, and have worse
stats to show for it. it used to be, in rogue trader, an inquisitor was as
good in combat as any space marine captain, regardless, and that was without
any gear. now theyre mockery, even after you pump them up, they depend on an
entire crew to do so. what the hell? they took good stuff and turned it into
a joke, basically playing off the eisenhorn trilogy and the inquisitor rpg.

and alot of the inquisitors roll was to do so alone. not to have an entire
retinue constantly backing them up. they acted alone, kept their identities
secret. now a days everyone knows every inquisitor.
i remember when the ordo malleus all wore masks and hoods and never let
anyone see thier faces. >> Stay informed about: [40K] 13th Company Wulfen...chasing their own tails? |

Well, the Eisenhorn stories were based on the Inquisitor game, so no
surprise there. I do think the Inquisitors have been wussed down.

Exactly! What point is an investigator trying to uncover a secret
cult if everyone knows he's coming?
>i remember when the ordo malleus all wore masks and hoods and never let

I like the old Draco books where being Malleus didn't prevent you
being anything else, and even in 2nd edition the Ordo Malleus watched
over the other Inquisitors.
